hey guyes

can anyone that get the info on times and places of the games
please post them up , and or give a link

as i would like to see some games in 2009.

ok as i follow the dogs, and there venue is tbc
does anyone know if there going to use belmore like they used to?

thanks Richo

In regards to information on the times and places for the games, generally they aren't released until the actual week of the game in some cases. I know this was definitely the case for some games last season.

In terms of the Bulldogs, they played the majority of their home games at The Crest Stadium at Bass Hill last year, but I'm not sure whether they will be going back to Belmore in 2009.

Hope that helps somewhat.

There are some sensational games to kick off round 1 in SG Ball. Souths v their feeder club North Sydney, Illawarra v Parra, Penrith v Canberra and Bulldogs v last years winners Roosters. It was the Roosters who knocked out the much vaunted Bulldogs (with Jamal Idris) in the semifinals this year.

Canberra may be the preseason favs as they have 8 or 9 players returning from this years team.

The Penrith Ball Squad is looking pretty strong this year.We where suprised Harry Seijka has stayed there but it will help him in the long run as he will end up in the u20 team before the end of the year along with vapuna tia kiliffi

The squad is very strong. People you talk to down there reckon it's stronger than last year. The entire starting line-up of the premiership winning Matts team (minus Jacob Gagen who is still eligible for Matts) is in the squad. I expect about half of them will make it.

They have bought 3 NZ props (don't know their names), two half backs from Wagga (Josh Murray and Edan Price) and a centre from the bush (Rory Brien/Australian AIS). I understand these players were bought by Grant Jones (since gone to Wests Tigers 20's) I assume Rocket must have had some involvement.

The props are tall and mobile rather than big and chunky as I thought they might be. They are training well and are up to speed with the aussie boys.

There are 5 guys backing up from last season, viz Freeman, Usini, Leiataua, Tavita and Bennett. Albert Kelly has gone to 20's.

I think they are capable of being semi-finalists. One thing is for sure; they are well coached.

Penrith are very strong. Just look at the calibre of players they sent to the academy to guage how strong they will be. Watch for the battle of the west in round 2 at CUA!

Freeman's dad Gary is at the tigers as assistant coach in SG Ball (David Brooks head coach). I understand Krys stayed because he is under contract to Parra.

For a bit of fun i've put some "best of" sides together for some age groups.

Tell me who else you think i should have included.

Most of these Under-18s will probably skip SG Ball and just play Under-20s in 2009.

Under-18s
1 Junior Roqica Balmain
2 Nathan Massey Canterbury
3 Matthew Wright Cronulla
4 Dylan Farrell South Sydney
5 Stewart Mills Cronulla
6 Kyle Stanley St George
7 Albert Kelly Parramatta
8 Aaron Woods Balmain
9 Kyle Mallyon St George
10 Samson Sene Penrith
11 Dominic Walsh Gold Coast
12 Jarrod Thompson Illawarra
13 Jared Cherrington St George

14 Chris Thomas Newtown
15 Ben Aualiitia Canterbury
16 Kilifi Tia Kilifi Penrith
17 Lance Siataga Western Suburbs

Under-17s
1 William Hopoate Manly
2 Chris Ulugia Parramatta
3 Jacob Miller Newtown
4 Jon Pepa Penrith
5 Cheyse Blair Newtown
6 Jason Wehbe Parramatta
7 Harry Seijka Penrith
8 Matthew Grout Western Suburbs
9 Ben Picker Canberra
10 Rodney Maufaao Parramatta
11 Alex McKinnon Illawarra
12 Lachlan Burr Canterbury
13 Vaipuna Tia Kilifi Penrith

14 Adam Brent Newtown
15 Joel Luani Balmain
16 Jack Lee Hang South Sydney
17 Tyler Sullivan Newcastle

Under-16s

Not sure I can pick a whole side this early on, but watch out for outside backs Jacob Gagan (Parramatta), James Roberts (South Sydney), Pat Matautia (Newcastle), hooker Luke Vescio (Manly) and forward Jeremy Ma'a (Newcastle).

Regarding under 17's I would include the following players for consideration:

Props: Solo Alone (Penrith), Jon Teafu (Penrith) and Adrian Haangana (Norths)

Hooker: Nick Folino (Parramatta) Should have been starting hooker for NSW 16's this year. Fittest bloke in Parra's SG Ball and is set for a big year.

Second Row: Jacob Loco (Parramatta). No one has heard of this bloke but they will next season. Mark his name down. This boy is a future champion.

im after the dogs squad in particular

mate, they havent even released toyota cup yet.

I'm sure the Bulldogs will have the bulk of their 2007 Harold Matthews side, plus a few of the better players from 2008. Something like:

1 Nathan Massey
2 James O'Brien
3 Ali Hijazi
4 Chris Taripo
5 John El-Agha
6 Aiden Sezar
7 Marmin Barba
8 Teni Waipouri
9 Josh Gill
10 Damien Taufaao
11 Ben Aualiitia
12 Lachlan Burr
13 David Minute

14 Daniel Tuulau
15 Jack Buchanan
16 Beau Bovis
17 Aaron Pollard

Josh Murray played in the Roosters premiership winning SG Ball side in 2008 while Edan Price was in the Eels Harold Matthews squad (bench player). I'd like to see Jason Seage come back to Norths, he won't get much of a run this year.

Parramatta SG Ball side could look something like:
1. Chris Ulugia
2. Charlie Bonanno
3. Jaydin Tavita
4. John Leiataua
5. Thomas Vandermade
6. Jason Wehbe
7. Josh Murray
8. Jake McGaughey
9. Nick Folino
10. Rodney Moefaauo
11. Olomano Usini
12. Jacob Loko
13. Krys Freeman

14. Saint Lafaele
15. Brett Bennett
16. Jake Lewis
17. Tim Crellin

I'll add another two players into the 17's mix. Is there a NSW 17's team in 2009?

For the wing spot: Sam Ahofono from Parramatta and Chad Redman from Newcastle. In my view Girvie both players are better than the lad fron Newtown you suggested. He got injured last year in HM's and wasn't tested against the top teams.

I think I read somewhere that the 18's game will be between a NSW team selected from the SG Ball comp and the QLD team will be chosen from the teams that contest the new 18's comp up there. Anyone know if that's correct ?
