Newman Government refers cash-for-contracts allegation to CMC in wake of Ros Bates saga
A CASH-for-contracts scandal has hit the Newman Government just as it attempts to move on from the embarrassing Ros Bates saga.
The Courier-Mail revealed today that an official working in Ms Bates' department allegedly offered to help secure contracts for a respected Brisbane company in exchange for a significant sum of cash.
Shocked representatives of family-owned IT company, Technology One, immediately reported the allegation to a senior staff member in the trouble-prone former minister's office.
However, it is unclear whether the serious allegation in September last year concerning the staffer from the Department of Science, Information Technology, Innovation and the Arts was ever passed on to authorities.
Queensland Premier Campbell Newman has responded today by referring the cash-for-contracts allegations to the state's top crime-fighting body.
