The Treasurer informed us all that his surplus was unattainable at this stage and he re-assessed the estimate.

Details have emerged of the Government's cuts to foreign aid, with programs in Indonesia, Sub-Saharan Africa and Afghanistan taking the biggest hits.

In December, the Government announced $375 million of the foreign aid budget would be redirected to cover the cost of housing asylum seekers.

It has now been revealed aid to Indonesia has been reduced by $38 million by cutting a climate change project and deferring an education project.

Aid to Afghanistan has been revised down by $20 million.

While in Sub-Saharan Africa, aid has dropped by $35 million through the deferral of money for food security and water sanitation programs.
