I think Simmons should make way for someone (merritt, Salah). He is continually caught out of position in defence and still has no communication with Peach on the kick returns,

and the lower grades.....

6 CHRIS KERR
7 SCOTT PORTER

If you keep these two.. the future of your team.. is looking very very bright. Ive played against both of these.. virtually unstoppable.. especially Kerr.. he is a freak

oh yeah good idea.
& how does Merrit play again?
I'm Salehs only ally in the club & even I don't think that.
Well I still dont see why Simmons gets the leg-up, he is still IMO the weakness in the side.

Simmons is going to be a star, I say leave him there until Merritt does something spectacular in PL.

I agree with fatshark to some point.

One of Canberra's try's last week can due to Simmons being caught out of position as well being found out several times when Souths targeted him. At the moment he is a bit of a liability in defence. Im sure with experience and time that his postional play will improve.

I am still happy to have him in the side though till Merritt proves his worth in PL as any thing he would do would only equal what Simmons has done at the moment and the side needs a bit of stability.

Out of position. We were playing a compacted defense to deal with Canberra's strong 'up the guts' game. Both wingers were out of position alot and that's where Canberra scored their tries. They were out of postion because they were told to be.

Fair point McSharkie but in some of the junior rep games his defence concerned me then too. Im not trying to put the boot into him im just saying that he is a little raw and inexperienced at the moment like a young ET once was and he will definately improve. He only took up the game not that long ago so it wouldnt surprised me if he still had a fair bit to learn about the game.

Overall i think he is doing a fair job for us and like i said id still have him in the team over all other avaliable

Wasnt trying to label Simmons as the next ET.

I believe no youngster should have a tag that that had to live up to. It adds unwanted pressure.

Just using ET as an example for getting my point across. :)

I think he's the next and improved version of COlin Best, and I eman that in a totally positive way. His footwork is probably better, and when he gets Best's strength, he is going to be great. Tackling wise, he's proably as bad as Best, but Best also struggled to read the game in defence. I don't think Simmo has this problem.

And on Porter and Kerr. By rep footy standards, nothing special. Porter has struggled to get a game over the last couple of years. He's only playing because Travis Burns is injured. Chris Kerr goes alright, and maybe is an outside chance of cracking first grade one day. At least he has a better build than his brother.

FatShark - in the first few rounds I agree with you. But last week I thought Simmons's defense had really improved.

The reason I think he should stay there at the moment is how good he is under the high ball, and his kick returns were good as well. Don't know if Merritt is better.

What I really love about the playing list is that you've got players like Merritt, Saleh, Meers, Galloway, Bosnich having to force their way into First Grade. We've got a bit of depth this year, and if the top guys get injured or lose form there's some good replacements ready to move in. This is far and away the most positive I've felt for 18 months.
