DAWKINS FINALLY A DONE DEAL IN DENVER

Posted by Mike Florio: Friday, February 27, 2009 9:29 PM

After some conflicting reports on whether veteran safety Brian Dawkins had done a deal with the Denver Broncos, we're told that Dawkins finally has signed a contract to join the Broncos.

Dawkins was drafted by the Eagles way back in 1996, and he spent 13 seasons in Philly.

Seeing him in anything other than an Eagles uniform will be as bizarre as seeing Brett Favre as a Jet or Mike Vick as a member of the Mean Machine.

Ill wait till is see it on NFL.com or the broncos site

The Cowboys say they are not playing the Redskins game of Free Agency. Dallas sat out the first day of signings.

I don't expect the Cowboys to be big players in free agency so the fact they didn't sign any player today doesn't surprise me.

I was actually looking at it the other way around, you have a young QB in Brady Quinn who looked okay at the end of last season and was relying on Winslow. The aim is to surroudn young QBs with plenty of weapons, well the Browns have just traded his main weapon and security blanket (I know they have Edwards but their offense ran through Winslow), Quinn now has very little outside of Edwards in that offense.

I agree that Winslow has been injury prown and a bit of a nuisance (although I like his competitiveness), however when healthy he is one of the best in the business, not sure this works for the Browns.

I can see why they signed a TE and one of the quality of Winslow. But gee they signed one with a bit of baggage.

I still think the Cowboys will sign Ray Ray

Looks like the Giants have agreed to terms with Atlanta LB Michael Boley.
5 year $25mil with $10mil guaranteed. (Boley still has to sign the contract)

Does anyone know much about this guy or is a Falcons fan?

So who are the Pats OLBs now? Adalius was playing mostly on the inside wasn't he? Even if you slide him outside who else you got, surely not Tully Banta Cain ;)

Curry will go in the top 10, Pats won't get near him, may need to draft a guy like Larry English or Robert Ayers

Adalius is a better OLB than he is ILB. He is one side and on the other side we will either get Curry with a draft pick or they will put Crable there. Crable is a LB they Pats got in the draft and was AWESOME in pre-season and in the moments he came on before injury in the season.

I know the Pats like to sign older players and hope they have a little left in them but gee I have to ask about them signing Fred Taylor. The guy just turned 33 years of age. Well past the used by date for rb's. He didn't have a great season last year. Rushing for just over 500 yards at an average of 3.9 and just one td.

The Pats signed Corey Dillon to be the main running back at age 31. He was another who was supposedly washed up. He won a Superbowl and holds the Patriots single season rushing record.

Taylor is an awesome big bopper that will come on and give relief to Morris or Maroney. Give him 10-12 carries a game and watch him explode during the season.

He is signed for 2.5 mil in the first year and then 2 mil in the 2nd year. Bargain.

It's a typical Pats hire, they will pair Taylor up with Morris and Jordan to split carries. Although the stats aren't that good I watched a couple of Jags games last season and Taylor still had some pop, he will come in and provide some insurance for the Pats, with a chance to win himself a ring.

You mean Morris and Maroney. Jordan won't be coming back IMO.

Thats why he signed with the Pats. Hoping to win the super bowl. Supposedly receieving $2m-$2.5m over the next two seasons. Can't fault him for signing with NE.

But I do have to ask why NE signed him.

Only the Pats and Bills were interested, what team would you rather go to?

CB Lito Shepphard has been traded to the Jets for a 2009 5th round pick and a conditional 2010 pick depending on playing time (2nd-5th rounder)

The Jets HAVE to be over the cap.

They may have a gun defence, but they don't have a QB.

Safety Sean Considine To Jaguars

I saw this and it's one of those under the radar signings, I really liked this guy in Jim Johnson's defence. It will be interesting to see if he is a system player or the real deal.

hopefully that means the Saints are a good prospect of getting Sensabaugh who was their starting SS who looks to be following Williams to the big easy. If the Saints manage to land Sensabaugh and Ron Bartell or either it would have been a great FA in my books

I have no doubt that Taylor made the right choice. Not sure that the Pats did though. Anyway its a done deal now and regardless of how he performs they will have to live with it.

The Kitna trade has come out of the blue. There was some talk that Grossman could have been the man. The Cowboys traded CB Anthony Henry to the Lions to recieve Kitna.

While we were always going to be looking for a veteran qb I didn't expect it to be the 36yr old Kitna. Interesting to see how how he fits in with the team. He made some not so nice comments about the Cowboys defensive backs this past season. Probably means the end of Bollinger at Dallas. The Cowboys most likely will look for a young qb in the middle to late rounds of the draft to be the long term #2 qb.

It was always on the cards that Cassell could be traded. The Pats better hope that Brady returns fully fit and raring to go.

Like I said mate, no chance Curry lasts that long in the draft, may need to draft another OLB
