Lucas was the fourth best CHF this season and it would've been wrong to slide him onto a HFF simply because he couldn't be accommodated at CHF.

Of course, this didn't stop them putting Goodes on a wing just to find a spot for him, I suppose.

Generally a good side, but I would have ran with:

B: Lindsay Gilbee; Darren Glass; Nathan Bassett
HB: Craig Bolton; Lance Whitnall; James Clement
C: Andrew McLeod; Scott West; Daniel Kerr
HF: Adam Goodes; Barry Hall; Alan Didak
F: Nick Reiwoldt; Brendan Fevola; Brad Johnson
Fo: Dean Cox; Simon Goodwin; Ben Cousins
I: Brendon Lade; Matthew Pavlich; Chris Judd, Shaun Burgoyne

With regards to your team Kev.

What has Kentucky Fried Whitnall done to get himself ahead of Bowden?

Thinking about it. Joel has played the entire season above his weight on the key forwards, won many of the contests and has managed to be an attacking beacon for Richmond running out of defense.

I am now in agreeance with the champion being selected there.

I agree with you on selecting Cox in the run on team and I think they stuffed up there. If they want to make the argument Lade had more hit outs than Cox ... Darren Jolly had more than anyone.

Sounds like a great team, when do they play?

Unlike RL we don't need to pretend we have genuine international competition ...

I think CHB was clearly the most problematic spot in the side, with many of the regular strong options injured this season. Bowden is more of a pinch-hitting CHB than a genuine option and, at times this season, when Richmond was genuinely struggling, it was clear that the key defensive posts were major weaknesses for the side. I think Bowden can supply better run than Whitnall, but the latter is a smarter footballer and would fill me with more confidence on a bigger bodied CHF.

The question is, how many hitouts went to advantage, I suppose.

Cox is clearly the best ruckman in the game, but I would have had Lade on the bench as I have seen him perform well down back and up forward as well, making him the most diverse of the back-up ruck options available.

How many times did Joel have an absoloute bag kicked on him though? (Forgetting the 3 100 point spankings where even Fletcher couldn't have stopped the opposition forwards with the delivery coming down field)

With regards to Whitnall being a smarter footballer - Surely you are kidding me? Joel Bowden should be captain of the Richmond Football Club. He would be a top 10 player at any club in the League. Joel may be lazy at times, but his vision and decision making under pressure is the equal of anyone in the league. It's his laziness/over confidence that is his downfall.

This I always find KPI to be quite interesting. I will always strongly defend Simmo on the basis it's not his fault that the Richmond mid's are not roving his taps. You go back and watch Simmo win tap after tap, only to watch smarter mids from the opposition clear the ball out. It certainly happened when we got pounded by St Kilda. Simmo was winning the ruck contests only to watch the ball being fielded time after time by the St Kilda midfield.

Not arguing Troy's case for selection, just pointing out 'taps to advantage' aren't always a consistent measure for the ability and performance of the ruckmen in question.

LOL "we" there I was thinking your a league fan.

You can think playing for country means nothing, League players get great pride from it.

Personally I just love seeing all the best players play against each other.

Seriously why do they not pick two teams and at least have a game.

Because by picking two sides you'd be devalueing the achievement of being named the best in the game.

The side doesn't have to play anyone.

Its not the same as the national rugby league side in which players sometimes get chosen despite being out of form, and some get chosen despite not being the best in their position.

Its effectively an awards night to honour the best players in the competition.

I'm sure they do.

You do ... In the NRL each week. Watching an Australian team picked on the basis of nepotism more often than form play against Premier League quality opposition from England just doesn't quite cut it to the level of competition the NRL puts on week in, week out.

I think Kev's answered this sufficiently.

4th best CHF? Arguably better than Riewoldt and Pavlich and All (check the stats dude). Certainly had a f**ken good season despite a sh*thouse side and dissapointing he didnt make it.

Am still surprised by the amount of sydney players in the side

Well done JUDD!

Well, such is his standing among the undiscerning (of which there are a disturbing many) I really expected to see him filling all 22 available positions.

Under such an arrangement, no doubt, Daniel Williams would have got the coaching gig because the Judd is so great and perfect that any wuss cheersquader could manage him.

This is the problem with modern day football.

Everyone wants to go running to the stats to prove their points.

For example, Judd lovers cream themselves silly about him getting more clearances than anyone else. It doesn't matter for toffee if half those clearances result in indirect disposal and turnovers.

The focus is on how big the cake is, rather than how tasty it is.

Kev, having a bad day I guess? I would be too if Judd was preferred over some gimps that you think should have got in! What a player both on and off the field!

You should be happy..you got one AA selection. Bowden has had a better season, Bassett is the form back in the comp! Bolton deserved it last year and has proven it again this year. Good selection. Rutten missed out as well. You can't fit everyone in the team. Its the reality!
