Good line speed in this set as Wenty ride the momentum early in the second half.

Norths finish their set with a bomb that has no chasers and Hunt has no problems in securing the ball for Wenty.

Paulo leads the way with a powerful charge before he too is rotated to the bench.

Butler-Fleming has a chance to put Toutai into space down the right but takes the ball himself.

Wenty kick on the last but the Bears take it well and then look to ruck it out from their red zone.

They have a break down in communication in the set tough as no playmaker is in position on the last and Ben Jones comes flying out of the line to jolt the ball loose for the turn over.

Wenty have another golden chance to put points on the Bears and start their set with an attacking move down the right. A pass goes to the ground, which forces Hunt to clean it up and he beats numerous defenders as he jaunts to the left edge. The ball ends up with Faraimo who is pulled down short of the line by two defenders before Pewhairanghi takes advantage of the motley defence on the next play to stroll over.

Wenty lead Norths 16-8

Kelly hits his third straight conversion.

Wenty lead Norths 18-8

Good metres after contact for Ualesi in this set as Went march to halfway on the last.

Kelly plots for an attacking play down the right-edge as he fishes for Toutai with a chip kick but the execution is well off and Toutai takes the ball into touch.

The Bears, desperate to get back into the game, welcome the ball in such a good position and punish Wenty on their right edge and the #18 breaks through some poor defence.

Hunt looks to have him in the last line but after making good contact and pulling him down he fails to complete the tackle and #18 gets backs up and dives over in the corner.

The Bears hit back and trail 12-18

The conversion strikes the uprights and is waved away.

The score remains 12-18 with North Sydney in arrears.

Wenty manage to trap the Bears in goals after two kicks on the last tackle.

It is an ugly drop out from the Bears, which eventually rolls into the arms of Toutai who brings it back.

Ualesi threatens on the left edge but can't free his arms for the offload. Wenty head back to the posts afterwards but the Bears match them in defence.

The Magpies show that they have perhaps learned from the first half as they choose to roll in a good kick for yet another drop out on the last.

The ref blows another penalty for Wenty and Luke Kelly quickly indicates that he wants a shot at the two to take the lead to eight points.

The mark is just to the right of the posts and 12m out.

Kelly makes no mistake and continues his hot streak with the boot.

Wenty secure the eight point lead at 20-12

A conservative set from Wenty but one that ends with a good kick from Kelly. Butler-Fleming does well in the chase with an aggressive tackle.

Norths has no choice but to kick early in the count in reply but Hunt and Toutai are two steps ahead as they retrieve the ball with haste.

An incomplete set from Wenty sees the Bears with the ball in an identical location to the place that saw the score their last try.

The Magpies defend better on this occasion and force another mistake.

Alvaro and Paulo are both back on and are rolling up the middle as Wenty find themselves in good position for points again.

Kelly chips for Toutai gain and Vai leaps high in the goal line contest but Norths knock the ball dead for another drop out.

A poor end to the set for Wenty as Jones tries to force his way over from dummy half. North Sydney hold him out and get the ball back.

Merritt injects himself into the game after a quiet second half as he pops up infield and grubbers past the line in the midfield.

He catches Wenty asleep and regathers the ball quickly before firing away a second grubber, this time for the #18 (Mark O'Daire?) who is looming in support.

Toutai is racing back in the chase for the ball but O'Daire narrowly beats him to it and in a complete head-scrather, Vai doesn't attempt to tackle him as he scores in the same place as his other two tries.

Norths narrow the lead to 16-20

The conversion is missed once more and the margin isn't breached.

With the game reaching its zenith, Wenty ruck it out before Kelly kicks it on the last.

Merritt puts himself under the ball and gets Norths onto the front foot before they ruck it for a few tackles.

Norths catch Wenty short down our left-edge and Tuiquiri is put into open space for what seems like the third or fourth time.

Tuiquiri has support but the Wenty defenders push up inside of them and manage to dive on his pass.

Kelly steers the team towards the right and completes the set with a grubber that is drilled into touch 20m out from North's try line.

The game finishes with Tui making a strong carry down the right and Wenty end up scrapping out an ugly win for the all important two competition points.

Brilliant again, Forty.

This result keeps us at the top of the table, though I think the Knights have leapfrogged us. Anyone know how Mounties went?

The youth brigade is leading the way.

If they keep on playing as they are there will be plenty of pressure put on incumbent first-graders.

Good news, Wenty has a game next weekend, plus our SG Ball side are versing Penrith in the grand final qualifier.

I also noticed Wenty will be broadcast on Fox on the 17th.
