Alvaro takes the first hit up and he is followed by the tireless Ualesi.

Alvaro takes his second run of the set before Maliota runs in deep in the set.

Wenty finds the grass from their kick but a favourable bounce gives the Cutters decent field position.

Illawarra find some space down our left edge but don't cleanly break the line.

They centre the ball before bombing it to our right. Faraimo leaps for the ball but fails to get a hold of it. The ball rolls out the back where it is cleaned up an Illawarra chaser who says thank you and brings the ball behind the sticks to score.

The conversion is successful.

Illawarra are relishing these mistakes by Wenty.

Illawarra find touch 20m out from Wenty's goal line with a very good kick.

Wenty take some time to set their scrum before using Faraimo on their first tackle.

Alvaro thinks about sending the ball out to the back but holds onto it and takes a high shot as a result.

Nice hands from Ualesi put Morgan into a sliver of space but the Cutters slide quickly and shut him down.

Wenty bomb it on the last and the ball is allowed to bounce. It takes a turn back towards the Magpies but there is a fortuitously placed Cutter who dives on the ball.

The Cutters ruck it out in return before bombing it towards Faraimo once more. There is a knock on from Wenty and the Cutters pack in for a scrum 20m out.

With less then a minute on the clock, the Cutters gamble on an early kick but Wenty defuse it and run the ball out in the following set to bring an end to the first half.

It has been a scrappy affair with moments of quality by it is a fair measure for mine that both teams enter the sheds with the scores locked up.

Half Time

Wenty are locked up with Illawarra at 18-all

Second half will be underway shortly with Illawarra kicking to Wenty. The Magpies will be running towards the Brett Kenny Terrace.

Kelly has to race up to grab the kickoff and nearly makes a meal of it but he manages to link up with Alvaro in the end.

The polar bears earns the first penalty of the second half but Wenty lose the pull from the first hit up from the resumption of play.

Illawarra test Weny's left edge early in their set beofre finding space on the opposite side to cross in the corner.

Really, really poor start from Wenty.

Suggegstions of a forward pass there but Wenty are looking brittle on their edges early in the second stanza.

Good hands from Hunt as he takes a towering bomb.

A nice run from Ualesi gets Wenty onto the front foot before Maliota drags defenders with him for a good 15m.

Wenty find the carpet on the last with a kick that is directed towards the posts. Solid set overall.

All the good work is undone by a soft penalty and Justin Hunt is furious with his team mates. He is barking for discipline from the back.

Illawarra on the attack now and it doesn't take them long to open Wenty up.

A nice run from #21 catches some Wenty defenders out and he punishes them for holding back for the pass. He links up with Willie Mataka (#15) on his left and Mataka scores.

A mistake from the Cutters fives Wenty the chance to hit back.

The struggle to make an impact against the Illawarra goal line defence, who slide and jam with perfecty timing.

A poor grubber is fielded outside the in goals and Illawarra guickly go on the attack.

Terrible ruck defence allows Michael Witt (?) to surge through and although Hunt isn't able to bring him down, he slows him down enough for the cover defence to nab him.

Another error from the Cutters lets Wenty off the hook and the Magpies make sure to punish the visitors for it.

After Wenty powered upfield a probing Justin Hunt run nearly saw the fullback lock down a hat trick. He was pulled up short but on the next play, Fui flew onto a short ball to score the simplest of tries.

The conversion is successful.

Lee Mossop is back on and makes a good charge from the kick off.

Some nice second phase all around the ruck nearly puts Pewhairangi through before Wenty pick up another set due to a mistimed strip.

Wenty scrum 5m into Illawarra's half.

Great play from Wenty!

It is Ma'afu who provides the spark with a great run from the scrum. He beats his man and finds Toutai in support who does very well himself to link up with Rawalui.

It is a footrace to the line and rawalui wins it...but not before nearly botching it!

Anyway, Wenty will take the four points there.

The conversion is unsuccessful by Kelly.

Wenty pick up a penalty for a strip and all the momentum is swinging their way.

Fui gets play back underway with a good charge and his followed by Mossop.

Wenty begin to work the ball to their right where Luke Kelly runs the ball ,nearly breaking through.

The Magpies run it on the last and it looksl ike Kelly has put Morgan in with a lovely ball but the ref calls it forwards.

I think Wenty are then penalised for dissent.

Wenty survive the Illawarra counter attack and come away with a 20 restart.

Kelly looks for Hunt on his inside but the fullback is taken high in a heavy hit.

The ref calls for time off to call out the Illawarra defender and put him on report.

Fui and Mossop take the early runs this set but the Cutters come up with an intercept when Luke Kelly sweeps to the left.

It was a fair take but the Illawarra #2 as well as he bat it up then dived forwards to grab it before it hit the ground.

Illwarra kick early, looking for a 40/20 but once again Justin Hunt is there to grab the ball. The Cutters practically get the same result though when Wenty cough the ball up a tackle later.

Gee anything remotely flat gets called forward in HC and SC yet half a metre forward in NRL is fine.

There is a huge difference in the way they ref these games.

Mind you I agree with these calls, its the NRL refs that get it wrong every week.

Solid goal line defence from the home team. They have no problems holding the Cutters out and come away with the ball after an ordinary kick.

Good work rate from Mossop as het takes another hit up and Kelly drills a good kick down field to complete the set.

Wenty's improved intensity is rewarded with a turnover and they go on the attack in Illawarra's redzone.

Hunt and Lasalo try to crack them open up the middle, to little effect before Fui takes a charge wide on the right edge. The Illwarra defence pull him down and that brings up the last tackle.

Kelly has plenty of pressure on him and fires a long pass away to the left, which Toutai picks up off the ground. Vai has no option but to kick and his chip is pretty well done but doesn't give him a favourable bounce.

Illawarra 20m restart.

Phew, end to end stuff.

The Cutters race upfield after a line break to #12. Hunt does well to bring him down. Illawarra try to play down the short side by their winger gets confused and miscounts his outside men...passing into touch.

Wenty scrum 10m out from their goal line.

Strong work from the Wenty forwards in the ruck before Hunt bursts into open space.

He takes on the Illawarra fullback but can't beat him!

Wenty lift with the roll on from that play and Ryan Morgan streaks through a yawning gap from a Kelly inside ball.

Morgan is able to centre the ball for Kelly.
