Sorry about the lack of updates guys, had some problems with my internet connection.

No change to the score of 14-6 and time if now off as a Mounties' player has landed awkwardly in a tackle.

Looks to be a nasty ankle injury for the Mounties lad.

He can't put any pressure on his left foot and is receiving assistance to leave the field.

Urgh, my connection is struggling here.

My replies got eaten up but Lasalo has scored under the posts and Foran added the extras.

Wenty lead Mounties 20-6

But as I type this there is another length of the field effort for the home team to narrow the margin.

In fact, it is a second long range effort for #20 (Wayne Dargan).

The conversion is successful.

Mounties trail Wenty 12-20

No idea on how long is left.

Dour second half with both teams continuing to struggle for consistency in possession.

Welp, Pewharaingi takes it on himself to liven things up! After securing the ball from the Mounties kick he decides to throw a loooooong, loopy pass to Rawalui who is a good 30m away from. The ball hits the deck well short of the Wenty winger but a friendly bounce sees him not only clean it up but make a 30m break.

Alas, Wenty get overly adventurous on the next play down their left and lose the ball and eventually give away a penalty.

Mounties punish Wenty for the turnover with a big bust to their #11 taking play to Wenty's goal line. Pewhairangi pulls the big unit down but on the next play, Mounties are able to catch Wenty out on the short side.

The conversion is unsuccessful.

Mounties trail Wenty 16-20

Mounties play out a solid set but are too heavy on their kick and Wenty come away with a 20m restart.

An excellent run from Vai is followed by a surging charge by Fui. Matterson nearly weaves through a few defenders on the right but it just pulled down and that brings up the last.

Foran bombs it towards the posts but the ball is well taken by Mounties.

Good set of defence from Wenty, the first in some time. The pin Mounties inside their own half before a ranging run from Faraimo nets Wenty an easy 30m.

Foran takes play down the left and decides to run it himself but he is easily taken by the defence. Wenty continue to play down their left but Faraimo drops the ball after a second man play by Pewhairangi.

A bit of luck for Mounties. Their fifth tackle kick comes off the side of the boot and lands fractionally inside the field of play.

Wenty scrum 20m out from their goal line.

Jones manages to claim the ball after a messy feed in the scrum but Wenty have to fight for metres as a result.

Ma'afu and Toutai get the ball over halfway on the fourth before Foran heaves it down field. The ball is taken on the full and Mounties come down their left.

Mounties pick up a dubious penalty that looked well milked but come into Wenty's red zone none the less.

The have one last play to win the game as the siren sounds. The bring the ball to Wenty's left edge but seemingly panic as the roll in a very poor grubber that is happily claimed by Wenty to close out the game.

Full Time

Wenty dft. Mounties

20-16

Hideous win but a win all the same.

Sorry about the blackout for updates in the second half. My data connection dropped out and took a while to work again.

Matterson played on the right and although he turned the ball back to the left quite a few times, never really ventured away from his edge. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, Foran played as the dominant half today and while his kicking game was up to scratch he didn't really threaten otherwise.

Gorman played pretty well at dummy half while Fui had some strong carries. There were occasional moments of quality from others such as Lasalo, Toutai and Faraimo but the overall effort of the team was below par beyond the opening ~15-20min.

Eighteen year old Tepai Moeroa making his senior debut. Plus three other NYC players.

That Wenty side is looking a bit ordinary, actually.

I reckon Luke Kelly might be a last minute inclusion in first grade.

Moeroa, Ualesi or Aloia? Who is the better player of these 3 and should we bank on them if we don't re-sign Joseph Paulo.
