Mounties don't make many metres in their first three tackles and look for a right edge shift on the fourth to ignite their attack. Wenty mark up well but do not have to make a tackle as the ball is spilled by Matt Allwood.

Wenty scrum 10m out from their goal line.

Morgan takes the hit up from the scrum and Wenty receive a very soft penalty for a hand on the ball.

Play resumes on halfway with a hit up to Moi Moi.

Smith throws a short ball to Lasalo who takes the tackle before Matterson redirects play from the right to the left.

Wenty run the ball down the left on the last and their are some impressive hands on show before Moutnies bring the ball down for a turnover.

Turnover to Wenty as Rawalui comes away with the ball on our right edge.

Wenty quickly punish the home team with as they switch play down their left edge. Vai Toutai gets the ball and turns on the after burners to streak past his opposite.

He still has the fullback to beat but a shimmy and a step back to the posts gets him past the final defender and onwards towards the opening try of the game.

Great individual effort.

The conversion is successful by Foran.

Wenty lead Mounties 6-0

Can't see a game clock unfortunately.

A solid run to Ma'afu takes Wenty close to halfway before Fui makes sure get over it.

Matterson holds the ball up and then looks for a run but the defence stay on him and that brings up the last.

Wenty send up a towering bomb but it is very well taken and Mounties begin their set. They stick to rucking it out and are contained to their own half on the last.

Faraimo gladly takes another ordinary kick on and makes a powerful return.

TRouble for Mounties now as Lasalo surges up the middle and throws a spectacular backhand offload to Ben Smith on his right.

Smith heads into the backfield and fends past the fullback but with more defenders closing in on him he throws a looping offload back to his left where Ryan Matterson is and the boom half plants the ball down behind the posts.

The conversion is successful by Foran.

Wenty lead Mounties 12-0

Lasalo and Ualesi take the opening hit ups in this set before Fui gets away a very scrappy offload that Gorman has to get back and retrieve.

Foran hoofs the ball downfield. Good kick as he finds touch 10m out from Mounties' goal line.

Mounties' scrum 10m out from their goal line.

Penalty to Mounties as Ben Smith is pinged for a high shot.

The touch finder is marked at the Mounties' 30m line.

The home team sweep to their left but Ryan Morgan reads the play well and jams perfectly on the sweeper.

Wenty pile on the pressure in the next two plays and eventually force an error and recover the loose ball.

The Magpies attack down their left once more as Pewhairangi nearly puts Faraimo past his opposite but he is eventually pulled down.

Wenty keep attacking down the left but it comes to no avail. They spin the ball to the right on the last but Matterson can't reel in a long ball and that ends the set.

Mounties finally piece together a dangerous play as Faraimo is beaten by his opposite but good cover defense forces an offload that Wenty dive on.

Alvaro comes on for Lasalo as Wenty make another error down their right.

Mounties make solid metres up the middle before looking for a cross field chip near halfway on the fourth. Faraimo happily lets his opposite take the ball and nails him as he comes down but he gets the ball away. Wenty cover the second phase easily and bring up the last where Pewhairangi manages to secure a testing bomb before the visitors then pick up back-to-back penalties.

Play moves all the way up to the Mounties' 20m line as Wenty attack via Moi Moi.

Sloppy play between Gorman and Foran as they nearly lose the ball on a switch of play. Foran just manages to hold onto the pill though.

Matterson does well to salvage the set as he calmly rolls in a grubber on the last to earn a line drop out.

Morgan retrieves the ball from a mistimed kick but Matterson loses the ball on the next tackle. Ben Smith's pass was on point but Matterson was thinking ahead and loses the ball cold.

Mounties ruck it out early in their set before attacking Wenty's right edge but there is a forward pass. The ref quickly signals for a penalty afterwards so there must have been some back chat and Wenty head down field once more.

There are some willing charges from the Wenty forwards but they are met strongly by the home team. Foran sends play down their left but Ma'afu has the ball stolen from his grasp in a good tackle.

Mounties pinch metres down first our right then our left edge with some enterprising shifts but Wenty scramble well to avoid outright linebreaks.

The ball is kicked from the right to the left on the last but Rawalui is able to simply watch it sail out as it was truly overcooked.

Wenty scrum 20m from their goal line.

A sharp dart by Gorman gets Wenty on the front foot and they begin to work away at the right edge of the Mounties.

Toutai can't quite beat his rival and offlaods to Faraimo who takes the tackle. Foran gets the ball two tackles later and stabs in a good kick and is hit late and hard.

Penalty to Wenty for the late hit before a second penalty quickly comes due to offside defenders on the goal line.

Time off as the ref has a word to the captain of the home team, likely regarding the repeated infringements.

Wenty opt for the two points and Foran lines up a very simple attempt 10m out, just off-centre.

The attempt is successful.

Wenty extend their lead to 14-0

Successful 40/20 to Foran, I believe.

Wenty with all the run of play.

Alvaro tries to barge over before soft hands from Matterson nearly put Ualesi into a gap. I'm not sure what happened on the next play but somehow Mounties have come away with the ball.

Wenty restrict the home team to a 20m gain as Alvaro executes a belter of tackle to bring up the last play.

Pewhairangi has little trouble fielding the kick just inside Wenty's half and Wenty continue to dominate territory.

The visitors attack down their right and pick up six again as the ball touches a defender but as they bring the ball back to the posts a charge from Pat Mataele goes awry and he loses the ball as he tries to roll through contact and plant the ball over the line.

Scrum to Mounties 10m from their goal line.

Good line speed from Wenty as they also continue to push the envelope on the 10m mark with great success.

Another error from Mounties gives Wenty possession just inside their own half but they quickly return the favour as Gorman fails to grasp an offload from Matterson.

Scrum to Mounties on their 30m line.

Oh my, another error from Mounties! Pat Mataele dives on the loose ball and Wenty go on the attack once more.

Wenty can't break the left edge of the Mounties and bring play to other edge on the last. Foran rolls in a decent grubber but the chase wasn't on the same page and the home team manage to get the ball back into the field of play before Wenty concede their first penalty in some time.

Mounties get their first chance to build towards points in a long time but after getting repelled by Wenty comfortably for the entire set they run the ball down the shortside on our left edge where their winger it taken into touch.

Wenty ruck the ball out as the half time siren sounds and the ref whistles an end to proceedings in the first half.

It is all happening at the Aubrey Keech Reserve.

Matterson hands the ball off to Alvaro who heads into the defensive line for the first hit up before Gorman slices through for a 40m bust. Gorman links up with Ma'afu but the second rower is quickly pulled down by the chasers.

Some quick hands down the left give Mataele a little bit of space to run in but he comes back in field to set up the last tackle play where a deft grubber nets Wenty a line drop out.

Plenty of one outs as Wenty waste a fair chunk of the repeat set. Eventually they shift the ball to the right on the fourth tackle but Matterson is hit just as he tries to pass to Pewhairangi and Api does well to clean up the ball and bring Rawalui on his inside.

Foran threads the ball in goals on the last for Gorman, who nearly scores but it just beaten to the ball by a defender for another drop out.

With the pressure building on Mounties you can feel that something has to give and it is Wenty who concede the break as a pass is intercepted by #20 for Mounties (Dargan?) and he flies down field. Gorman gives chase but doesn't have the pace to reel him in and he scores under the posts.

The conversion is successful.

Mounties trail Wenty 6-14

Excellent set after points as the home team make the better part of 60m. They bomb Faraimo on the last and he is out jumped by his opposite. Fortunately he loses the ball in the contest and Wenty catch a break.

Some more fortune for Wenty as a Ryan Morgan offload picks up a deflection off a defender for six again but said luck runs dry a tackle later as Wenty make a mistake in the play-the-ball.
