Unbelievable. Wenty allow a shallowish ball to bounce and the Dogs reclaim it from a faovurable bounce. The sudden possession seems to have stunned the Dogs who are unable to mount a serious attack before the ref once again calls rime off to talk to the visitors for an indiscretion that I missed.

Another penalty to the Dogs.

They immediately shift the ball from their right to their left with a loooooong, looping cut out ball. Rawalui is a long way in field and simply doesn't have the pace to make up for the lost ground and I believe that Kayne Brennan gets himself a double.

Horrific start to the half for Wenty.

The conversion is unsuccessful.

There is some great line speed from Wenty as they hit Burr hard and early but they fail to wrap the ball up and he gets an offlaod away.

The Dogs are unorganised on their fourth tackle and after spilling the ball behind their backline they somehow recover to make a line break out of the play. They try to stab a kick in on the next play where it is messily but ultimately taken by Foran.

Wenty are able to finally string together a decent set, albeit in defence as they lock the Dogs down in their own half.

They have the Dogs retreating after a powerful charge from Faraimo but Ualesi is unable to keep hold of a flat ball on the next play.

Errors once again crippling any chance of Wenty scoring.

A solid set for the Dogs ends with Templeman opting to roll the ball into touch, 10m out from Wenty's goal line.

Bit surprised by that choice, to be honest. Wenty certainly aren't rolling the Dogs up the middle and there was time for an attacking kick.

Ma'afu makes good metres in another surging carry but can't find anyone to offload to so he takes teh tackle. Wenty come back centrefield with a carry to Avlaro to bring up the last where Foran once again looks for a shallow chip to Rawalui. The kick is on the mark and Rawalui times his run better on the second go. He has the fullback to beat and can't find Butler-Fleming with a pass so he kicks ahead. THe kick is pretty good but just rolls over the sideline, 1m out from the Canterbury goal line.

The Dogs are under the pump now and struggle for metres before a dropped ball looks to have given the Magpies the ball. Ben Jones sees an opportunity to play the ball from the ground and toes it ahead. He and Tyrone Phillips give chase for the ball and Jones gets a second kick away, which takes the ball in goals. It becomes a mad jostle for the ball but Phillips wins it an not only secures the ball but brings it 20m out.

The Dogs mimic their effort two sets ago and drive the ball up the middle before Templeman hoofs it into touch.

Matterson finally gets his hand on the ball and up the middle, busting through a few defenders. He is able to offload back to support as Wenty swing towards their left edge before the defenders finally catch up to them.

Wenty then come to their right on their last two tackles but after a miscommunication, they are caught running the ball on the last.

The Dogs struggle for traction in the ruck and are forced to kick from their 40m line. They drive the ball downfield and Pewhairangi lets it run dead for a 7-tackle restart.

Matterson makes another break up the middle and links cleanly with support but they are taken immediately.

Wenty come straight to their right edge again but there is little direction from Foran, who throws a long ball to Butler-Fleming who is forced to throw the ball back in field after getting driven towards touch. David Mintue cleans up the offload and the Dogs get further aid after the ref awards them a penalty three tackle later.

Rawalui fields a kick near his try line and beats the first chasers to make a good 8m. Wenty then earn a penalty of their own to bring the ball near halfway.

Good run from Ma'afu there as he beats the initial contact but doesn't have any support. Fui is back on and takes a charge before Pewhairangi bring play to the right. He links up with Butler-Fleming who beats a couple but comes up short of the try line. Api takes the ball from dummy half on the next play but gets caught and that brings up the last.

Foran receives a dogshit pass from dummy half and is forced to take the tackle 20m out from the Dogs' goal line. Piss poor service from dummy half there.

Another solid set from the Dogs ends with a terrific kick that has Rawalui trapped just outside his goal line but they undo the pressure with another penalty.

I'm not sure whether I can call it good fortune or terrible reffing for Wenty now. A bullocking crossfield run from Matele ends with him losing the ball in a two man tackle. The ref rules that the ball was stripped and packs the two teams down for a scrum to Wenty. Just another head scratcher, I suppose...

Wenty make the most of the second chance as Danny Howard crashes over under the black dot from a dummy half pass. Soft try.

The conversion is successful.

Penalty for Wenty as Fui takes a massive shoulder charge. Should be a send off really as that was a nasty hit.

Fui is on the ground and receiving treatment but the ref simply puts the offender on report.

Lasalo takes the first carry from the restart before Wenty find some space down their left edge. Play comes back to Foran on the right who nearly puts Ualesi through a gap but the backrower is just pulled down.

Wenty drive the ball back to the posts and Pewhairangi flies through in support for an offload, he would have scored there if he kept control on the ball but he alas he doesn't and the Dogs dodge a bullet.

The home team work downfield via their left edge in reply before rolling the ball into touch, 10m out form Wenty's goal line.

A lovely run and offload from Matterson puts Lasalo into open space on the fourth tackle. The centre-come-prop finds Pewhairangi in support but the Wenty custodian doesn't have the pace to reach the try line. Instead he takes the tackle and gets a lightning quick play-the-ball. The defensive line of the Dog is shot to pieces and Ben Jones gets a pass one off from the ruck to stroll over untouched.

The conversion is successful.

A good tackle from Canterbury just brings Ben Smith down after he receives a great ball from Lasalo.

Lasalo in involved two tackles later as he strides downfield behind some lazy ruck defence and Wenty find themselves in the Dogs' redzone. They spend their final two tackles swinging the ball to their right edge but Butler-Fleming fails to get an good offload to Rawalui on the last and a scoring chance is perhaps missed.

The Dogs continue to play for the sideline but after nailing Wenty inside their own redzone over the last few attempts, miscue this set as the find touch 30m out from Wenty's goal line.

Shenanigans from the Dogs now as their #15 comes off for a half-second of magic spray to his hand.

Wenty come to halfway via Moi Moi and eat futher into Canterbury territory via Pewhairangi and Ualesi. Matterson hoists the ball high on the last as Foran gives chase. He outleaps Phillips and shovels the ball back before Ualesi cleans it up and tries to link with Butler-Fleming. The ball receives a touch from the Dogs and Wenty receive the scrum.

And a superb run from Faraimo sees the powerhouse winger beats about four defenders to slam the ball down next to the posts.

That was a tremendous effort from the scrum win! Amazing run.

The conversion is unsuccessful (off the posts)

Luck is finally swinging to Wenty as the short kick off attempt sails into touch for a penatly.

Fui gets Wenty underway and earns a follow up penalty as the defenders attempt to shoulder charge his once again.

Ualesi starts the the next set with a good run before Fui brings the ball back centre field. Lasalo is held up just short of the line and Ben Jones tries to burrow over in the next play. He must have used Lasalo as a shield as the ref has penalised Wenty!

The Dogs find touch 20m short of halfway and bring the ball down our right edge where they are repelled with ease. They desperately swing the ball back to their right but a loose pass undoes the momentum of their movement. With little else working they roll the dice on a midfield chip and chase. Fui does well not to impede a chaser as the Dogs regain the ball. Ben Jones quickly wraps up the runner and earns a turnover. Great hustle there from the whole team as Wenty had numbers around the ball.

1min to go and time off for Pewhairangi who is limping on his right foot.

Api is assisted from the field. He must have hurt himself aiding Jones in the all important sixth tackle.

Fui takes the opening hit up for Wenty as they look to grind out the win. Lasalo follows him before Ma'afu makes another half break.

Faraimo takes a dart from dummy half and is followed by Mataele who is driven to the ground as the full time siren rings out.

Somehow, beyond all belief, the Magpies have won this!
