Ryan Matterson is on, playing down the left edge.

I imagine that Rawalui has pushed back to fullback with Smith or someone else filling at right centre.

The Warriors make good metres after points but lose themselves a bit on the last.

They end up bombing Fritz, who has plenty of work to do with chasers in coming.

The contest is messy and the ball comes back to the Warriors but the ref calls it a knock on against the Warriors.

Wenty then pick up a penalty.

Maliota rucks it up the middle as Matterson drifts to the right to link up with Ualesi.

Wenty come back down the left via Matterson and he looks to hit Ma'afu with the ball but the backrower drops it cold.

The Magpies would do well to complete a set here. In some good news, Hunt looks set to come back on.

60m up for grabs for the Warriors this set but they waste a good attacking chance with a listless run on the last.

Wenty struggle for metres early in the set and are contained to their 40m line for the set.

Matterson has to heave it down field to a set back three and the Warriors come into the set with momentum.

Too easy for the Warriors now as they manufacture an overlap down Wenty's left edge.

Pewhairangi is beaten for pace, which allows his opposite to draw and pass to his winger who crashes over in the corner.

Confusion reigns here as Wenty looked to have kicked out on the full.

No one knows what is happening and Ben Smith ends up with the ball and runs into the in goals.

Eventually the penalty is given to the home team.

Replays show that the wrong call was made.

Ualesi does well to slow the play down. Havili (sp) runs from dummy half and nearly nails Wenty but loses the ball short of the line!

They haven't had a great deal of luck thus far but that is a nice turn of fortune.

Wenty scrum 10m out from their goal line.

The Magpies utilise dummy half runs to compete in the ruck and pick up a handy penalty to get to half way.

And now Matterson makes an error as he injects himself on the right edge again. Elementary stuff here and Wenty are simply killing themselves with these errors.

Fritz is bombed again, and why wouldn't the Warriors do so, but comes up with the ball this time around.

Smith gives a short ball to Kei and that is the best Wenty have to offer this set.

A poor kick is fielded near halfway for the Warriors before Pewhairangi is pinged for an obvious shoulder charge.

The Warriors have one last chance to score this half and direct play to Wenty's fragile right edge. They find space yet again but the last pass is off the mark and that will do us in the first half.

Not much positive to say about that stanza.

Joseph Ualesi had some good moments with a few bruising hits and some willing charges but Wenty could not complete a set to save themselves and the Warriors punished them for it.

Plenty needs to change in the second half and I'm not sure if Wenty have the personnel this week to bridge the sixteen point gap.

Second half is underway with Wenty kicking off.

Not as auspicious start to the half as the Warriors march into our half. Wenty simply fail to match them up the middle and the Warriors are primed for an attacking.

The bomb goes up and Hunt gets himself under it. He jumps to take it and is hit heavily in the air.

The ref quickly calls for a penalty and the Warrior player involved has stayed down.

Matterson finds touch just past the 20m line and Wenty restart play with Ualesi.


Danny Howard is next in line and is followed by Ben Smith. The left edge shift is too slow and the Warriors are in position to kill the movement.

There is an excellent bomb on the last and the Warriors lose the ball backwards. Shortly afterwards there is a penalty for a second effort and NZ get the piggy back down field.

Bullshit penalty. I don't get how they can call a player back to play the ball if they play on when they have called held but when the defensive player doesn't hear they call a penalty. Has to work both ways.

Consecutive penalties for the home team and now the referee has put #18 (Kei) on notice for repeat infringements.

The Warriors take the tap with the Wenty defensive line having pushed back and pinch 20m. Wenty are nearly breached down their right edge but somehow keep everything together. The Warriors bring the ball towards the posts on the last and then spread it to the right before running it in goals with a perfectly weighted grubber.

Hunt and Faraimo seem to hesitate before the big winger finally gets back to bat it dead.
