Wenty nab a brace of tries through #5 but it isn't enough to bridge the gap and as the full-time siren rings out Nathan Davis perfectly mirrors his earlier effort to streak away 90m from an intercept and score.

Wenty prove to be up to the task of repelling the Sharks who end their set with a poor kick.

The reply from the Magpies is swift and assured as they find space down the left sideline through Cecil MacKenzie who is eventually pulled down at halfway. From there Wenty attack down the right edge, fighting their way to the tryline before earning a penalty.

Off the reset there is a lovely run from either Edwards or Mataele who offloads to put Daniel Harrison over for the first try.

Covnersion is good.

Charlie Herekotukutuku is well positioned to clean up the Shark's kick but Cronulla defend well to keep Wenty to halfway.


Gardner lets the towering bomb bounce and it breaks to the ingoals but the chase is poor and Gardner finds 30m before earning a penalty.

Make that two in a row as Cronulla receive another in Wenty's half.

Another excellent set of goal line defence by Wenty as Dom Readon snatches the flat kick ingoals for a 20m restart.

Herekotukutuku finds himself in space and tries to put Reardon over but the defence sides well and push Reardon into touch. However, the ball comes back for a Wenty penalty mid field.

And there is an early double for Daniel Harrison as #19 puts him between defenders with a nice pass.

Fluke hits the conversion sweetly.

Wenty lead Cronulla 12-0.

A fantastic set by Wenty comes to a disappointing end as they march 90m downfield from the kick off and looked to have forced Gardner ingoals before the ref blows a penalty for offside chasers.

Wenty hold Cronulla out yet again. On this occasion, the Sharks spill the ball off an attacking bomb.

Lorenzo Ma'afu makes a half break around halfway but is just roped in and loses the ball in the tackle.

Cronulla make Wenty pay as they cross down our right-edge. I believe the try scorer was #3 Kirisome Auva'a.
