Thanks Muzza. Thought that would be the case....

He is still only a kid..same age as Jarryd..He still has time to make it. Bet Craig Bellamy could make him into a star...:sarcasm:

Did you happen to watch the Bundy Cup and notice how 'our boy' Solo Allone went for Bankstown..No biggie if you didn't just curious that's all.

If he hasn't made it ahead of blokes like Jono Wright or Steve Turner and he's already 23, he'll never make it "big" IMO. And I have nothing against Jono.

Mick was an outstanding junior, an Australian rep. He suffered a bad leg injury when he was at the Roosters and it curtailed him a bit.

In the world of Rugby League, June 16, 2004 will be remembered for that Billy Slater chip and chase try which secured Queensland an upset State or Origin victory. But just a couple of hours earlier it was two young New South Welshman that had set Suncorp Stadium alight with a couple of performances that marked them as stars of the future in the Under 17 curtain raiser.

One of those youngsters was a 16-year old Jarryd Hayne who scored four tries on the wing for New South Wales as the Blues ran out easy 52 to 26 winners. But arguably the most impressive player on the field was the 17 year-old centre inside of him. That youngster was Michael Lett.at the time a Rooster's junior and the kid who Arthur Beetson not-too-long-ago nominated as the hottest prospect in the game.

I cannot see how a 17-year old is more impressive than a SXITEEN-year old who scores FOUR tries...

Yes ME...and he (Lett) was opposite Greg Inglis, and Kornstar, I rate Mick Lett. He is still a kid, yet to fulfil his potential...there are a lot worse players than him playing NRL...

Maybe because the 17 year-old set him up for his four tries....

No he f**king didn't.

Even on the wing, Hayne scores most of his tries from dummy half, chasing kicks and hitting gaps up the middle.

I will never in a million years believe Hayne scored 4 tries that were set up by one other player.

Hayne's the star; Lett's the reserve grader.

Oh yes he f**king did....

Steve Mascord's report from SMH

"NSW winger Jarryd Hayne was a year younger than most of his rivals and playing out of position in last night's State of Origin curtain-raiser - but it didn't stop him scoring four tries before half-time.

The Cabramatta junior, who attends soccer star Harry Kewell's former school, Westfield Sports High, had a field day playing outside clever Sydney Roosters centre Michael Lett as the Blues' under-17 team smashed Queensland 52-26 at Suncorp Stadium.

A fullback in Parramatta's undefeated Harold Matthews Cup side this year, 16-year-old Hayne was making one of his first appearances on the wing.

Lett, a Western Suburbs junior who is a half-brother to representative stars Kevin and Ken McGuinness, repeatedly held a defender at bay and unleashed a pass around the corner to put Hayne into the clear.

The Blues gave notice early they were switched on, with winger Ben Jeffrey scoring after only two minutes.

The Illawarra flanker booted goal after goal, often from the sideline.

Halfback Dean Caldwell then scored a simple try before Hayne assured his side of victory by beginning his stunning scoring rampage.

Seven of the 10 Blues tries were scored in the first half.

Queensland lifted their game after trailing 42-6 at half-time, outscoring their rivals 20-10 in the second half.

Replacement Greg Eastwood scored in the final minute to narrow the margin to 26.

Doesn't say how many tries he set up though.

I reckon it was none. He should've given Hayne early ball so he could work his magic.

 I'll take your view of it on board. I was actually at the game and was in awe of Lett's ability after watching him in action.
He hasn't kicked on as good as he should, but he is still a kid with time on his side.
