1st 8 minutes on NRL - mostly about the punch-up in Melbourne and how much the Fox commentators enjoyed it. some turkey called Caroline Wilson said this was the difference in the codes.
Agreement that the China game was a farce and the crowd was nowhere near 10K except by the turkey who said this was a great business opportunity for Victoria. Someone else said if you want business opportunities use football (had to explain this was Soccer) which the Chinese actually like
Turkey looked like she had been forced to suck a lemon
Fair summary, but there was so much more.
The (real) football commentator (David Davutovic) really called her out. When he was asked could AFL make a footprint into the Chinese sporting landscape, his straight out answer was "No". And he's a Victorian. He then went on to say what you said above, after she changed the subject to saying that this is about diplomatic relations and commercial opportunities. "If the Australian Trade Commission want these opportunities, they should engage the sport of football, because it is becoming huge in China and the Chinese govt has massive plans for the sport." That shut the bitch up. He also said it's a waste of money and went on to mention the 10's of millions of $$ that the AFL has wasted on the Suns and Giants.
To his credit, Richard Hinds agreed and said yesterday he had been at a local (suburban) AFL match in Melbourne. This is the grass roots he said, and this is where the AFL should be spending this money. She was now alone. They all agreed that the crowd figure was falsified.
What was worse though, was Wilson managed to get an AFL reference into EVERY OTHER sport that was mentioned this morning. NRL, Rugby, Football and Netball.
They gave a fair bit of time to football today - primarily because Davutovic was on the panel. They talked FA Cup final and about the upcoming
World Cup - something that would have made her cringe, yet she still felt the need to offer her "expert" opinions, though it was clear she knows nothing about football and equally as clear that she doesn't care, such were the ignorance of the things she said.
If nothing else, this morning's episode was good for a laugh.........just to see the bitch squirm. It wasn't the normal AFL love-in we have come to expect, even though she did her damn hardest to make it so.
