We fielded a B team against Samoa. I don't classify that as a choke at all. We went into it thinking it would be a walk in the park and deservedly got our arses handed to us on a plate. Not a choke. Against Ireland - we were expected to win but our forward pack didn't turn up. I beg to differ though that choking has nothing to do with knockout games. The context for 'choking' refers to choking under pressure (ie. knock out games).
at least get it right... there have only been 2 world cups that "could" be classed as chokes.. in 99 and 03 we werent the best team and 95 the team had food poisoning... whats the wannabies excuse for losing to Samoa and Ireland???
Those games haven't knocked us out of the RWC,and let's assume that either the Boks or AB's do knock us out...that won't be a choke either (unless we miss a penalty kick from in front on full time or something like that). AB's are victims of their own success. They're the number 1 team in the world and are expected to win every game...losing to a minnow isn't a big deal provided it's not in a knock out stage but bowing out in the knock out stages to teams that aren't ranked in the top few in the world is a choke in my books. All the pressure is on the AB's. Again.
Not true. There are reasons for not winning games and 'choking' is only one of them. Again i make the point that choking under pressure is what really what the term 'choking' is derived from (IMO anyway).
your opinion isnt widely shared.. the sports definition of choaking "In sports, a "choke" is the failure of an athlete or an athletic team to win a game or tournament when the player or team had been strongly favored to win or had squandered a large lead in the late stages of the event" the eannabies were "strongly favored" to win both... they didnt.. ergo.. a choke.
and yet you are saying the ABs will "choke" to these same teams.. no they wont... i will say it again.. there is only one team who can beat the ABs in this world cup on eden park.. and we play them in the semis.
Disagreeing doesnt change it tho.. the wannabies choked.. they should have won both games.. against minnow teams.. the didnt.. the lost and lost badly...

Having to rely to other results???? that doesnt show a lot of faith in your team!!!... in saying that... the wannabies are gone in the qtrs... world cup winnr comes from the Semi between SA and NZAww yeah, no frans steyn, no bakkies botha and a good chance bryan habana and jp pietersen won't be fit for the quarter. And the boks are in the papers saying they're hoping Italy win so they wont have to play Australia.
