Michael K. Williams is famous for playing Omar Little, your favourite character on The Wire, and Chalky White on Boardwalk Empire and now he has just signed on to play an even more incredible character Ol Dirty Bastard.
The film, Dirty White Boy will tell the story of Jarred Weisfeld, a 22-year-old VH1-intern-turned-manager, and his misadventures working with Ol Dirty Bastard in the years leading up to the Wu-Tang members death in 2004. Both Weisfeld and OBDs mother, Cherry Jones, have given the film their full support and co-operation.
The producers Lars Knudsen and Jay Van Hoy told Deadline that We both knew full well who Ol Dirty Bastard was but this story completely floored us. As filmmakers, we knew that this would make a great film and that Jarred Weisfeld would offer an actor a complicated and compelling character to play. This felt to us like Risky Business and 8 Mile, with equal elements of darkness, humor, and humanity. While their co-producer Todd Hagopian says that Michael K. Williams will leave audiences completely in awe as Russell Jones, the man behind the character Ol Dirty Bastard.
Dirty White Boy will be the feature debut for director Joaquin Baca-Asay who won an MTV Video Award for his work on the video for Jay Zs 99 Problems.
