with all due respect channel 10 aren't the most reliable with this sort of information, now having said that lets face facts that the word is getting pretty strong from other sources too.

Quite frankly it's appauling. Rewinding a few weeks no one had a problem with keeping preston but now it looks like we'll be letting a potentially long term member of our club go to accomodate a one year deal with preston. How disgraceful.

It was all very well for us to boast we were resigning our grand final stars. Not much point doing it if we've got to let them go a year down the track because someone administrators cocked up. Now we're not only a laughing stock on the field but off it too.

The management should definately be held accountable for this. Why re-sign Preston Campbell for $250,000 for 1 season and let go our best prop.

It could be argued that because we know that these players can win us grandfinals it's more devastating when they are let go.

But I'm happy to accept we don't have the worst management in the NRL, though it must be a pretty close call.

A few weeks ago it all seemed perfectly reasonable to resign preston campbell. Right now it seems an bloody rediculous decision. To have preston (who with all due respect has no vested interest in the clubs peformance beyond next season) take a portion of the salary cap that undobtedly influences our ability to retain Ross is just stupid.

Let's consider it Preston campbell - a player who can't influence our success beyond next season - being resigned vs Ben Ross - a player who is signed for two years in all probability may have extended his contract beyond that and furthemore can be a cornerstone of success for the better part of a decade. Preston (short term success) vs Ross (long term success).

It's a no brainer!!! And if I can see it and thousands of other panthers fans can see it why can't the business and League "experts" running this club see it?

This isn't about having your cake and eating it to, as one poster at PI suggested. It's about making tough decisions but also smart decisions. And these decisions are dumb.

It's dumb that we would let go a player who only wants to invest in this club short term take precendence over one who wants to invest long term.

It's dumb that we're letting go a SOO representative instead of letting go a bumnch of avearage near first grade quality players.

It's dumb that we're going to let go a prop when we don't have that greater depth in that area compared to the seeming endless supply of backrowers hanging around (usally in the centres).

It's all just dumb.

But more angering than the stupidity is the contempt shown for fans with this farce. Because while some of the fans have been villifed for dare suggesting certain things need to be done you can guarantee the club has been plotting this latest move for a while.

How else would the storm CEO know they are front runners for Ross if he hasn't been speaking to him (I know his just speaking out his backside to scare other clubs off.)

I've noticed Weaver has been particularly quiet on this issue today. Not sure if it's because he's just been busy doing 'media' things because of the announcement or what. Maybe he just agrees with us but can't say?

storm are denying they have him....and panthers are denying that they have let him go yet.
