Only 11,000 at Parramatta's First Home Game

Mods. pls. don't move this thread to Crowd Watch 2009 because we Storm supporters and supporters of other teams deserve a right of reply to Loudy's thread 2 weeks ago where he rubbished Storm's
crowds saying we only got 14,000 at our first home game (where in fact it was just under 15,000)!

So where were all the Eels fans tonight? Sitting at home and watching Foxtel instead of going to the game to support their team.
One of the powerhouse clubs in Sydney, and only getting 11,000 supporters at their first home game. Very disappointing.
And in the heartland of rugby league!

At least Storm had a lot of competition in the CBD district with an NAB G/Final at Etihad Stadium, a G/Final in the basketball across the road from Olympic Park and the Kings of Leon concert also across the road.

Reasons and excuses....please feel free to list them.

Wow, 14000. Who would bring that up again. Disgraceful with a whole state to play with.

It is time to go.... Melbourne.

11,000 is pathetic.

Parascum supporters should hang there misshapen heads in shame.

But you have to admit more people should be supporting their teams in Sydney. Parramatta is a huge club and it was a very disappointing crowd for their 1st home game.

We need more bums on seats in Sydney...

Yes, should have gotten about 14k. Poor turnout.
The difference between Parra's and Melbournes, I guess are thus:

  • Poor match scheduling.
  • Poor recent seasons and a general apathy as a result
  • Playing a team that isn't well supported or is a traditional rival
  • Had a 20+ crowd at our last outing.
We don't get a sunday arvo crowd unil at least round 6 - when the current schedule expires.

Unless we collapse against Easts next week, check back to this thread at 8.30pm on Good Friday - our FNF night against St George. Following week v the Dogs at ANZ. We'll play in front of over 40k in those 2 matches.

Unlike your match against Saints, the Raiders game wasn't our biggest blockbuster.

Anyway, I'm sure it won't stop your marching down Collins St demanding we be punted.

Derrr hellloooo! But lets not let the truth get in the way of a good story. The Storm have to compete against 10 other sides who bring in around 6 odd MILLION people in a town where AFL is a religion. Yet in saying that they get more, or close to including the home crowds in Sydney, including the Stains average of teams that have been around near 100 years!

Aren't yourself and others going to look like utter dickheads when the Storm overtake most Sydney's crowd average in an AFL town?

Why focus on the negatives?

Why not start a thread about Manly getting 16000 odd against an out of town team?

Doesn't suit your agenda?

Actually, compared to 20 years ago, it's not a bad crowd. I certainly remember the days of 7000 crowds among the poorer clubs.

I think you should worry about getting some bums on seats in Melbourne - you have over 3 million to attract, have you not?

Mate, I'll welcome that day.

BUT WHEN THE HELL IS IT GUNNA HAPPEN?????????

If Melboring were able to get bigger crowds, why can't you go to the dome or the g? Becuase you wouldn't have a friggin excuse then!

ughhhh Evenflow.why are so many Storm fans so totally obnoxious?? i know a few awesome ones but sadly they seem to be in the minority.

MsStorm i agree with you, more people need to support their team and get out there. my friends all go for different teams but we all go with each other and i think more people should do that.

but i dont think its particularly fair to compare a parra crowd to a melbourne crowd when the storm has the league monoply down there.

She's focusing on the negatives because the crowd was quite frankly, PISS POOR! They have so much of a supporter pool to draw from in the Western suburbs yet they draw the paltry number that they do tonight on their first home game in round!

It's simply not good enough in anyone's language and anyone who thinks it is then you dont care enough about the game. It simply was a disgraceful effort no matter what bullsh*t excuse you come up with.

I am usually a very positive person...if you care to read my posts.
All I want to see is more people attending rugby league games in NSW.

Anyway, Loudy deserves a bit of stick:D

The Eels fan base has always been a bit of a myth, this doesn't surprise me.

20 years ago the population was much less than it is now.

Loudy, you also know this is an afl town...unlike Sydney which should be or is the heartland of rugby league....just compare the crowds of both codes.

The point of this post is to encourage people in NSW to go and support their clubs.
