Optus snatches English Premier League rights from Fox Sports in Australia

Actually I don't know if you can get HD from streaming on Chromecast. Damn

shouldn't be a problem, the only thing Chromecast does not work on is a VPN, as once you set the show up, it casts directly from your router via the wiresless network, you only need the device to get your show started then you can take your phone for a drive and the show will continue, thats why it wont work via a VPN as it bypasses your device

also Chromecast casts in 3 different levels and the top one is for HD although it uses a lot of data in HD

Yep stuff Optus, I'm an Optus customer and I'll still have to pay $15 a month to get the EPL. hopefully Optus loses bucket loads of money and people over this and doesn't go near the EPL rights ever again. Fox with their partnership with BeiN is gonna kill it. Would like to know what effect this will have with the English FA should viewing numbers plummet out in this market.

It'll suck as I won't be watching LFC live each week but I'm sure I'll be able to find a good streaming site once a week, provided SBS don't show LFC live on any given week.

Seriously, Optus are absolute merkins for doing this. I'm luckily a mobile customer, but to spend so much money for the rights and then make it so much harder for people to watch something they love is just a disgrace.

Optus getting raked over the coals for this.

Even the AFR have taken a shot at them.

I'm pretty sure I heard on the radio earlier this week or last week that Foxtel were trying to secure rights to a lot of the clubs own TV rights. LFC TV, Man U tv etc and will hope to show delayed coverage of the games. It's not watching it live but it is something should they pull it off.

Yeah that's true Twiz and something that doesn't benefit everyone. Purely as a LFC fan it's somewhat beneficial to me, tho id prefer all clubs to be shown as it's not just LFC I enjoy watching from the EPL.

It's shows Fox are willing and trying to secure some EPL content.

Yeah I love that BeiN has been added as I had Setanta a few seasons back purely for the Bundesliga but had to cut it off for financial reasons. 3 new channels with shitload more content somewhat makes up for the EPL not being in anymore.

My main passion is LFC but I will find other ways. If Fox get the EPL back and keep BeiN then it'll have everything I need for sport. NRL, all major football leagues and competitions and the American sports I like as well.

I haven't heard one person I know that's happy with the Optus arrangement and pricing announced today.

Just garbage by Optus. Can't even get phone reception in Sydney metro on occasions with those muppets so no chance of ever going with them.

hopefully I can still watch Liverpool domestic games (least if we make Europe I can watch em on bein) on either a live stream or delayed.

Shit go Optus

Fortunately I'm with Optus, not that it matters as I haven't had fox for a while now and watch games from many different leagues including champions league and Europa on a free app

Although they aren't live, which isn't an issue most of the time.

I sent a facebook message to optus asking what I can do to watch EPL HD on my tv if I have a mobile plan under 85/month. They said I will need to pay an extra 15 per month, and for an additional 'small' fee, I can use a Yes TV by Fetch Mini device, and that can utilise my fixed BigPond internet service. They're also anticipating that their EPL app will eventually be available via Apple TV, Chromecast and Smart TVs after launch.

The small fee is $5 per month from what I've read for the mini fetch device.

How f**ked is it going to be when all sports decide to break themselves off into their own streaming services? Will end up costing $200 a month to be a sports fan
