I said it before-id rather just have a off year and buy some good juniors or wait to the one after.This guy didnt cut the mustard two years ago in the nrl and wont now....

So you just want our club sitting around waiting for the next great halfback to come through and hopefully lure him to Parramatta???? That could take 40 years. You've got to play with the cards you're dealt. And at this stage, in an era where we are lacking great halfbacks it only makes sense to recruit an experienced and proven one, rather than hoping that a Brad Murray, Trent Hodkinson, Tim Smith, Michael Witt, Steve Witt, Blake Green, Josh Lewis, Richie Williams, Daniel Mortimor, Brett Seymour , Albert Kelly, Brett Firman, will be the next big thing.

Well you're a fool. The only thing Jamie Lyon could carry is a dead pig he shot in Wee Waa. He was a makeshift 5'8th, NOT an organising half. Also, Orford only left Manly last year so he's only had one year in the ESL. Good luck with your fruit. You shouldn't buy fruit from Woolies anyway. Fact is we're better off with a player like Orford steering us around then Robson or Mortimor or co. He's better than nothing and if we have space for him in the salary cap then why not?

Im not saying we are not but i wouldnt pay overs for him-We are not that desperate to throw the bank at a has been.And if you dont think Jamie lyons won manly the grand final your a moron-He was the best player for the final series. orford started to slip towards the end of that year.He was average the year after and now has spent a year in ESL...So 2 1/2 yrs since he was great.....BIG GAMBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We don't need a superstar halfback just someone that will organise the team better and lead them around. A player who can direct the attack. Orford can do that but I agree he isn't going to win a premiership on his own.

Will he be our nine? I realy hope this young mitchell gets his chance cause i liked what i did see from him.I just dont think next year is all doom and gloom with or without Orford.A great club like ours someone will shine.I have this gut feeling that webb and reni will shine next year as will justin poore

I haven't been following the ESL so I couldn't tell you his current form but Casey like Reni can play several positions in a pinch and we haven't really had players like them for a while..

terapo is still a season away from being any where near fg development, he's yet to get rid of his puppy fat..

methinks you should let me answer before telling me what I think. Lyon is a very good player, but he's a centre who can play 5'8th if required under a dominant halfback. No surprise he was shifted back to the centres as soon as Orford left Manly.

Big gamble compared to what? Going into next year with Robson, Mortimor and Murray battling for the number 7 jersey... THAT is a big gamble.

Why would he?
I thought our problem was that we only have 5/8...Why on Earth would we want another one?
Or maybe we need to add another to our list of 5/8s who can only play 5/8.
