Well by going through the last 100 or so posts he made (I can't be f**ked going any further) not one post I saw made him look like an AFL diehard. Cricket diehard maybe because there was a few cricket posts but that's it

It may not be a smoke screen. If Dank is as crooked as he appears, he might well have sent them a false letter. The onus ultimately is on Essendon to keep their correspondence though.

If Essendon can't produce the letter then it has to be assumed they are lying. Perhaps investigators can demand Dank produce the letter? If it exists, is it in his interests to produce it? There are so many ifs and buts.

Either way. Essendon are f**ked.

Just curious... What has been presented that makes Dank crooked? Keep an open mind here. Remember the whole Brett Stewart case. The lies, the misleading information and who was the real victim of the whole affair.

I'm not saying he is innocent... Just keep an open mind about what you believe.

I was watching ABC News and a top WADA official is in the country; coincidence or not?

El Diablo thinks I'm an AFL nut because I'm not 100% pro-NRL, and more to the point, not 100% rabidly anti-AFL.

Funnily enough, I get more AFL info from this forum than anywhere else.

Dank has admitted to giving Mannah peptides. Reported in yesterday's and again in today's telegraph. He isn't going to try to hide it. He has a letter from an oncologist who says it was OK to do what he did.

Since Dank is suing all and sundry and no threats to sue have surfaced it seems likely to be true. Peptides are illegal in sport.

Whether society classifies him as a criminal remains to be seen but giving mannah peptides (irrespective of seeking out an oncologist to give it the OK) is unforgivable. Don't know he sleeps at night. He knows what peptides are for and he gave them to mannah anyway.

In short, I believe Stephen Dank. He was happy to gamble with someone else's life.

Webcke slams ASADA's investigation process and says it's time to deliver

Date
May 2, 2013

Adrian Proszenko
Chief Rugby League Reporter

Shane Webcke, the rugby league great who inadvertently came into the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority's crosshairs after testing positive to a banned substance, has described the agency's handling of the latest crisis as ''the most ludicrous operation of an enforcement agency you could ever see''.

Webcke revealed in his biography that he tested positive for probenecid after the opening game of the 2001 season. The staunch anti-drug campaigner escaped a ban after he was prescribed the drug to treat a serious knee infection. ASADA and the NRL dealt with the matter in-house, accepting the doctor made an innocent mistake in failing to register the prescription. Wallabies winger Ben Tune was stood down for taking the same drug that year.

While Webcke said the new investigation, in which 31 NRL players had received interview requests from ASADA, was a ''different situation'', he believed the agency's handling of the matter had unnecessarily tarnished the game.

''That's what I don't understand. With the seriousness of this, if the wrong thing has been done - and surely they would know - then act on it,'' Webcke said. ''They keep saying the wrong thing has been done but why then has nothing happened? It's the most ludicrous operation of an enforcement agency you could ever see. I support the process … of eradicating performance-enhancing drugs from our game.

''If there are players or clubs that have done the wrong thing, they should feel the full brunt of the legislation. But equally, if there is nothing there, it continues to be a blight on the game.''

Webcke - who represented Brisbane, Queensland and Australia - is proof that you can reach the top without using supplements. While his choice was not to take them, he said he and his teammates would never question anything handed out by club officials.

''We had full faith that they would never do anything to harm a player,'' he said.

The 38-year-old fears that a club such as Cronulla could have their season torn apart if ASADA doesn't have enough evidence to make a doping violation stick.

''It's a disgrace,'' he said. ''The government have said this and that, 'it's terrible and we're going to clean it up' - well if it comes to nothing, where is the compensation for these people and what they've been through?''

Speaking about his own drugs drama, he said: ''I was in hospital and the [infection] was running rampant through my knee. If it got into my bloodstream it would have killed me. In that instance, there wasn't any potential gain of anything except this infection was very dangerous.''

The impasse between ASADA and NRL players continues after Shark Wade Graham's grilling was abandoned mid-interview. ARL Commission boss Dave Smith will read the transcript of the interview after Graham's legal representative advised him not to provide information on teammates in return for a reduced suspension. There was a suggestion that there may be a conflict of interest that Graham's lawyer was also acting for the other Cronulla players of interest. However, Sharks general manager of football, Steve Noyce, said he was comfortable with the situation.

''These are senior legal counsel we have and they've been aware of the fact they are representing a number of players,'' he said. ''They certainly haven't flagged it.''

lol at Webke and "it's a disgrace". It's a disgrace if there is no evidence and no one gets banned, if we end up seeing players banned, clubs found out and Dank and co prosecuted then what? I suspect that they have enough evidence to out some players now but they are trying to build cases against others/clubs or trainers/suppliers. Armstrong took two years to gather enough non direct evidence to bring the whole nasty affair to the surface, in many ways this is even largr and more complicated as it involves numerous players/clubs and codes.

I'll pass judgement when the investigation is wrapped up and outcomes are known.

I think you would find he means its a disgrace if we go through all this crap and it ends up that in the players did nothing wrong. That the investigation was a complete waste of time

ASADA should just show the evidence they say have to the NRL and then they can hand out doping infractions

i have no idea why they aren't doing that when they claim to have phone taps and credit card records

could it be they're full of shit?

good chance

Ok. Maybe I read that the wrong way.

So far, it is a joke.

Maybe it will evolve into a disgrace.

EL D, neither you or I know what they have or haven;t got. As I said maybe they have nothing and it will be one of the biggest stuff ups of all time or maybe they have got plenty but feel no rush to nail who they have got until they have exhausted the fishing trip to see who else they might catch. There are probably numerous levels of this, players, then the clubs, then the suppliers, then the criminal link through the suppliers. It is highly unlikely there is nothing going to come of it, I hope that is the case for the rep of the game but it is probably just wishful thinking.
