The man died for Christ's sake. This needs to be discussed. It can't just be swept under the carpet in some childish debate between NRL and AFL. Both codes are in the shit. The NRL vs AFL bickering should cease and what has gone on get cleared up.

At the rate we are going this years premiership won't be worth winning.

he had cancer ffs

what are they sweeping under the carpet ?

Did he?

He spoke honestly and said that his brother would never knowingly take a banned substance. I'm certain the boys would not cheat and I'm sure that's the common view. I don't think anyone would seriously think that either of them would knowingly take PED's.

From what I've read of this drug saga over the past few months, one of the gravest concerns is that players may have been given stuff without knowledge.

I'm don't know how Tim would know what Jon had been given, if Jon didn't know himself.

So he was given stuff that he willingly put into his body, a body that was in remission from cancer, and he didn't know what is was?

Tim said that Johnny was very particular about what he put into his body. Doesn't sound like a bloke who would consume, inject or rub anything into his body without knowing what it did.

Tricia Kavanagh knew what Johnny Mannah "used" but Johnny Mannah didn't? Wow.

Adam Hawes said the Parramatta players will issue a statement supporting the Mannah family and also say a line has been crossed

backfiring badly for News Ltd

Interestingly kavanagh submitted her report to asada only a day or so before the cronulla club had elections for a new board

It seems to me the ethical thing to do would have been to wait a few days so the new board could review it

Why the rush?

Surely the potential for this leak occured to her and it would only be professional courtesy to at least have the new board aware of the explosive nature of the report that would land in their desk before they even entered the building

Smart thing would be to let ASADA do their own report. Providing hearsay evidence and sacking staff based on that hearsay doesn't seem to have helped at all.

So her job is to anticipate leaks? It was probably the new board you goose. They need to justify not reinstating moons, giv and co.

We've been duped.

That's where there'd have to be a line drawn in the sand, if true. I just hope for leagues sake that none of it is true, but lordy mercy me, I'd ethically be opposed to giving a cancer survivor with a decent chance of remission anything that isn't sanctioned through his own medical people. Surely to heck no one was dumb enough to do that though.

You would hope not, you would even check how much (if any) vitamin B & C, protein etc he could have and get it in writing.

Actually no. When you are in remission it means there is no traces of cancer in your system. He was at high risk of the cancer returning (in part for the same reason it started in the first place). That is very different and why he should not have been given drugs that were not absolutely necessary.

I thought I answered that one. According to you the subject is too taboo to be spoken about. Which means that if Jon Manner's health was compromised by the club (accidentally or otherwise) then it would hopefully just disappear.

Players Media Release: We're Behind You

The Pirtek Parramatta Eels playing group has released a statement in relation to media reports surrounding Club Captain Tim Mannah, his late brother Jon and Head of Physical Preparation & Performance Trent Elkin.

“In all parts of life there are boundaries, lines in the sand that everyone understands. It is our belief that the Daily Telegraph today crossed that line. To put the Mannah family through what they have in the last 24 hours is an absolute disgrace and those responsible should be ashamed of themselves.”

“We as a playing group will be rallying around Timmy, his family and Trent Elkin. They are our teammates, our family and this will only make our bonds stronger.”

The club will be making no further comment on this matter.

For me it's still the way it was reported that is disgraceful.

I don't have a problem with reporting on such an issue if its done in a respectful way.

But to put it on the front page with words like 'bombshell' is very disrespectful to the Mannah family. Particularly given the tenuous links.

It could have been approached in a much better way. They could have taken just a little more time to interview serious people who could talk about the issue intelligently.

But no , what we got is a rush job in order to claim their 'exclusive'

And in that rush they trod all over the memory of of johnny Mannah and his family & friends.
