Funny how Phil Gould was ranting on about naming and shaming, Now his club has been investigated he is telling us it will be a drawn out process which is all good. Change of tune?

Yep.

You need evidence or an admission.

So far we have neither.

Hmmm. So the most scrutinized sport in terms of doping can produce a man who never failed a test in 15 years of excessive prohibited drug use, and you have no concerns whatsoever about the accuracy of testing in the NRL? How do you distinguish exogenous vs endogenous human growth hormone in a urine (or blood for that manner) sample?

I've gone back to one of the earlier releases...

HOW MANY CLUBS COULD BE CHEATING?
- The ACC admitted it suspects the use of illegal peptides is widespread and across a number of professional sporting codes in Australia. It also revealed individuals from a number of other sports are also under investigation.
- Multiple players from one code and across several clubs are suspected of violating the drugs code with peptides.
- Racehorses have also been injected with drugs. The ACC revealed peptides and hormones have been given to thoroughbred race horses, a clear breach of the Rules of Racing.
- Most damningly, the ACC report included the case of a team doping. It was orchestrated by club officials and coaching staff, with peptides possibly given to players.

Got to love how the whole racing industry hasn't even been mentioned in any of the major reports I've seen...

the team doping issue is probably an AFL team discussed in the media.

That would imply that the peptide issue is multiple players across teams relates probably to RL. If they find one or two players from league only out of this it would have to go down as one of the most over-hyped announcements in RL sporting history.

How did you get that from what I said?

Concerns over the testing are different from what we have here.

I'm concerned about innocent people and clubs being dragged through the mud first and foremost.

I'm concerned about the fact you need evidence to convict someone. All we have heard so far is rumour and innuendo.

Once this mess is cleared up then maybe I'll have some concern for the testing procedures.

Recreational drugs have been a problem in RL at least since the SL war. Probably before that too. There was a whole report on the 2000 World Cup where Tallis and Webcke had reported a massive issue of recreational drugs. If this is about recreational drugs, I think the crime commission are massively out of touch with issues the larger community face every day.

Heaps of Shark players of the late 70s/early 80s were shockers. A few Manly players weren't angels either during the same period.

Belt up you whinging soft c**ks.

An Inquiry (albeit headed by political blue blood) is about to get under way.

The way some people are carrying on makes me think not many have the endurance or stomach for this...and it's been less than a week.

Patience is a virtue.

Only fools will continue to speculate.

Wasn't there a Roosters v Cowboys game a few seasons back - possibly a Round 26 match that attracted a bit of attention after one of the teams led by a huge margin only to be run down after some horrendous play by one of the sides?????????? Could be clutching. I'm trying to locate it.

2009 - Fitzgibbons last game in Roosters colours and the result that condemned us to the wooden spoon from memory. Or maybe we'd already sown that bugger up.

With some clubs coming out and saying their issues are relatively minor, what that could possibly mean is perhaps those clubs have players that have only been doing some recreational drugs. While the other end of the scale would be the PEDs.

Great! more speculation.
