By sacking Hird the AFL are only reinforcing the narrative of the 730 report that its an arrogant bully that won't be questioned. The media down there have to share a lot of blame for the hubris of the afl.

The 730 report was more about demetriou and the culture of the afl then it was about Hird, but the Hird side of the story is the only part getting any focus by the media today. Again, just reinforcing the narrative of the 730 report.

Because it could see Vlad face criminal charges.

Ok, I had not seen or heard of the resultant Melbourne media coverage of the 730 report.

What will be hilarious is how they (Melb media) handle it, if some of the AFL kingpins face criminal charges/sanctions.

Now that Vlad has announced his retirement, and with the ABC already shining the spot light on the Administration, I can see that changing very quickly if there are any legs in this. The Vic medi may live sucking at the AFL's teat, they also despise the way they are treated.

You don't realise how pitiful your post sounds.

Most league supporters attack how the AFL manipulates the Vic media (justifiably) but you want the same deal for the NRL.

That is how cover ups and illegal actions (straw houses) occur when there is no scrutiny. It is the duty of the (supposed free press) media to be fair but vililant.

i remember peter frilingos, i used to love reading his work. other than roy masters, steve mascord and brad walters there isnt a single league journo near his level

I think you are missing the whole point of life and morals, if you lie with dogs you get fleas, if you want the same deal as the AFL enforces on the media than you end up as a bigger grub as the AFL is.

I would chose not too. Morals or Power, I'm afraid I would refuse to lessen my morals any day than go a grab for power.

nah that never happens in the real world

look at union for example and the Vichy banning of rugby league.

other sports have a grubby history and have benefitted from it
