Canberra NRL star Sandor Earl - who in May last year had a code-switching try-out for Essendon arranged by controversial sports scientist Stephen Dank - is set to provide ''substantial assistance'' to ASADA after being charged with using and trafficking banned peptides.
Earl was suspended on Thursday for use and trafficking of performance-enhancing drug CJC-1295 and is facing the prospect of a four year-ban for doping offences during his time at Penrith in 2011.
Fairfax Media reported exclusively in late March that Earl was on the cusp of switching to the AFL after participating in a secret try-out for Essendon arranged by Dank. That report revealed Earl was put through a series of kicking, marking and handballing drills in May last year when the Bombers travelled to Sydney for their round-nine clash with Greater Western Sydney. However, it was thought Bomber coach James Hird had gone cold on the idea and scuppered the move.
It was understood that Dank, then employed by Essendon, had drawn up a hit list of up to 20 NRL players he believed had the physique and aptitude to make the switch to Australian rules. Earl, whom Dank knew from the time he spent at Penrith towards the end of 2011, was one of those he had earmarked to make the switch. The former Sydney Rooster reportedly impressed a number of Bombers officials, including recruiting manager Adrian Dodoro, during the one-hour session at Royal Botanic Gardens, just across from the hotel where the team was staying.

Earl has vehemently denied providing banned substances to other NRL players. ARLC chief executive Dave Smith said the 23-year-old admitted the charges and accepted his punishment.
Earl's lawyer, Tim Unsworth, said his client was treated with the drug by Dr Ijaz Khan, on the referral of Dank, to treat shoulder injuries at a private clinic in Cabramatta called Injury Care. Unsworth said the Penrith Panthers paid the medical bills.
''Dank referred him there,'' Unsworth said. ''Sandor met Dank at the Penrith club because at the time he appeared to be a consultant to the club. He met him in the Penrith gym.''
Unsworth said his client had provided ''reasonable assistance'' to his interrogators, which could see him back on the field in 12 months. He confirmed Earl had provided information on Dank and Khan during his interviews with ASADA, the latest of which was on August 27. ''He has not been in communication with Dank for a long time,'' Unsworth said.

Is Roy Masters the only journalist that seems to know what is going on?

Then-Sea Eagles doctor Paul Bloomfield, now with the Dragons, certainly did not endorse Dank when contacted by Cronulla doctor Dave Givney on April 9, 2011, after a game between the clubs.

A couple of days earlier, as Givney's concerns about Dank became serious, he encouraged Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan to contact Raftery, whom he believed would support his view that Dank's work was questionable.

The Sharks did not pay Dank but he had a four-month consultancy with the AFL's Gold Coast Suns at the same time. Because the AFL heavily funds the Suns, it therefore subsidised the activities of the man now regarded as its public enemy No.1.

So Cronulla claims that they had not paid Dank may well now be true. This could be the start of some good news for the beleaguered sharks.

I love how according to Dank and the Weed these substances are all legit, yet can not produce any evidence accept "some one told me over the phone"

This was his attitude when he emailed WADA, that was on the 7.30 report a few months back.

He basically ignored their advice that just because it's not on the banned list , doesn't mean it's not prohibited.

Would they emphasise the "trafficking" part if it was just supplied to his doctor to inject it?

Rebecca Wilson's brother (are they related by the way) Jim mentioned on Sunrise this morning that its "alleged" that the stuff was supplied by Dank to Earl.

& because it changed hands to the dr to inject (to help repair his shoulder), he gets a trafficking charge.

What a f**king joke!

Edit: IMO, it is double dipping. Being charged twice for effectively the same thing. This is how ASADA will go to justify the millions spent on this investigation.

I reckon there is more to it than that thought, clearly the link is Dank and then whoever his network of other recipients was. (if any)

Do you think? Perhaps but I wouldn't be so sure judging by what has gone on before with this investigation.

Also, that Telegraph headline is a disgrace to the game. Talk about kill the goose that lays their golden eggs.

True ronnie coming out?

Don't call me anymore ...

This is a fact of life now Carch - They've put Sandor on display in the hope they can close the investigation and get some confessions.

I'd wager heavily on the fact a lot of players are about to be ousted as cheats. He hasn't been arrested by the Police for trafficking, so you'd think its under WADA's code, which would strongly imply that he was supplying other athletes.

Thats my take on it anyway.

"But the anti-doping watchdog also possessed text messages from Dank?s phone and others that implicated Earl in further trafficking activity.

The text messages suggested that Earl was the "middle man" in several transactions that do not involve other NRL players or athletes bound by the WADA code.

It?s understood those transactions involved prescription ElephantJuice, as well as WADA-banned substances, and took place for a period of time after Earl?s initial consultations with Dank and the Cabramatta clinic."

It's a Cercei & Jaime Lannister type relationship....

They are trying to deflect attention from joffrey Rudd.

actually krudd does act like a petulant child doesnt he?

it is interesting this has come out a week or so from the election. gives asada and labour a kick along and makes them look like they've actually done something for the past few years

they now have one smoking gun, lets see the rest of the darkest day, or was sandor providing park footy players with peptides? #Dorfather
