here is another athlete that was recently banned but had their suspension backdated for the exact same reason as the Sharks players

http://www.smh.com.au/sport/athleti...es-champion-daniela-roman-20140718-zulur.html

I'll give it to you El D, you certainly are the master of trawling the internet to dredge up an article to support a point of view you are pushing.

All that says to me is that another person got a soft ride from ASADA over a violation of their sports doping guidelines. As a sports fan that brings me no great pleasure that clean athletes are not only potentially competing against dirty athletes, but also competing against dirty/potentially dirty athletes that are given a soft touch because our national anti-drugs sporting body is both clueless and toothless.

soft?

they got a 16 month ban that was backdated so they effectively only got a few months which is the same as the Sharks

i hope Schlanger, Ings, Kent, Wilson, Massoud and co had a whinge about that

i doubt it though

Missed a major meet (who knows what else she missed), compared to a couple meaningless games to save the Sharks from the spoon. And yep, a couple of months is soft.

Given it wasn't back page news, they may not even know about it (it even took the journalist 2 months to report it).

How "professional" athletes respond to,injections:

"If someone came near me with a needle I'd be running the opposite way," Schlanger said from the Pan Pacs meet on the Gold Coast. "We had a flu shot after the orientation camp. I took the lid off the bottle first, checked it online and made sure it was all good before I even got my flu shot.

"It's just something I've always done and I think every other athlete is the same on our team. We know 100 per cent what we can and can't take. The doctor was there telling us this is a flu shot but you have to make sure and be able to rest easy. For me, anything that goes anywhere near me will be 100 per cent clean."

I'd like to see an Olympian be allowed to keep a gold medal won whilst under suspension. Gallen won the pinnacle of the sport internationally and nationally whilst "suspended".

The level of punishment inconsistency from asada/wada beggars belief. These guys received long bans for simple mistakes of where abouts.

We don't care about them PR, we only care that our beloved rugby leaque dopers get away almost scot free.

Why is it such an outrageous concept to some that there are a variety of bans? So there fugging should be. Is anyone seriously suggesting the sharks players should get the same as Armstrong, Ben Johnston etc etc?

Because when you are making a public comment about a 'weak' drug suspension, you wouldn't make it seem like you go the extra mile.

You know Lance Armstrong also said he was clean, doesn't mean it's true.

What good is taking the lid of the bottle? Did she send it to a lab?

This guy would be too easy to fool.

Much better system is to have club officials and Doctors that you know and trust. And then trust and obey them.

The problem of officials doping athletes is overblown anyway. An athlete knows if something is dodgy or not. Refusing to trust the medico and then doing your own amateur research is idiocy.

Are you telling me that Professor Google can be wrong?
