You really rate peptides.

And you really believe that they took them and received SOO winning boosts from them.

Do you have a newsletter we can subscribe to?

In every other sport athletes are suspended pending outcome. In ours we let them play for 9 months then call it a suspension. Total joke.

Except there were no positive tests , and you don't know what evidence they had to make that call.

TIMELINE at Cronulla Sharks as alleged by document. *All involved deny any wrongdoing

December 1, 2010: Sports scientist Stephen Dank introduced to Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan, former football manager Darren Mooney, and strength and conditioning coach Trent Elkin.

March 13, 2011 (Rd 1): Dank begins work on supplement program. His input into Cronulla's opening game of the season against Canberra appears to be restricted to the preparation of pre and post-game hydration formulas. These were different to those provided by the Sharks official supplier, BSC. Sharks lose 40-12.

March 20 (Rd 2): The first round of alleged peptide injections, believed to be GHRP-6, are alleged to have been administered in the away dressing room at Sharks Stadium on the eve of their derby against St George Illawarra. Sharks win 16-10.

March 22: Sharks doctor David Givney sends an email to Dank asking what the injections are. There is no evidence of Dank replying.

March 25 (Rd 3): Believed to be the date of the second round of injections alleged in the document to be GHRP-6, administered at the final training session prior to the clash against Penrith. Trainer Mark Noakes was asked to bring a yellow sharps container. On this occasion Darren Hibbert, aka "The Gazelle", is alleged to have given some injections. Hibbert, a sales representative for supplement provider Advanced Sports Nutrition, is a friend of Dank who worked with the sports scientist during period of his previous six-year stint at Manly. Sharks win 44-12. Hibbert denies any wrongdoing.

March 28 (Rd 4): Alleged in the document to be the date of the first round of injections of CJC-1295 - a different peptide believed to have longer-lasting qualities than GHRP-6 - prior to the trip to New Zealand. It's alleged this was the final time players were injected with the knowledge of other staff, with treatment switching to peptide tablets over the next two or three weeks. The tablets contained the same substances as the injections and dissolved under the tongue. Physiotherapist Konrad Schultz saw Dank give players unidentified tablets on the trip, which was one of the rare matches the sports scientist attended. Givney was unaware of Dank distributing tablets to players. Sharks lose 26-18.

March 30: Givney and then Manly doctor Paul Bloomfield exchange text messages to organise a talk about Dank. Around the same time Flanagan and Mooney also contacted Sea Eagles football manager Steve Gigg for references on Dank. Gigg reported no concerns about Dank's previous conduct at Manly.

April 6: Givney sends an email to Flanagan and Mooney raising concerns about Dank's practices. Flanagan replies: "Doc thanks mate. I will knock it on the head today. No injections, no anything. Thanks for your patience and help."

April 7: Givney's email triggers a meeting at Sharks Leagues Club between Dank, Elkin, Mooney, Schultz and the doctor. There is evidence of a "heated exchange" between Givney and Elkin prior to the meeting's commencement. Mooney recorded notes of the meeting that agreed: "everything had to be passed by doc." Mooney passes on concerns to Flanagan, who was not in attendance, including Givney's doubts over whether Elkin was telling the truth. Flanagan then meets Dank and says: "You're not to have anything to do with players." Dank replies: "OK, OK I get it. Needles to stop and everything past the doctor. I get it."

April 9 (Rd 5): Givney and Bloomfield meet on the night of Cronulla's clash against Manly. Bloomfield allegedly tells Givney: "Get rid of (Dank) as soon as possible." Schultz is also approached by another Manly staffer, who warns: "Watch out for Dank." Sharks lose to Manly 19-13.

April 17 (Rd 6): Schultz informs Givney that players are still being given injections despite the resolution of the meeting 10 days earlier. Elkin and Hibbert allegedly instruct players not to tell Givney. It was around this time that winger Isaac Gordon showed Schultz a bottle labelled BB Formula, which carried the words: "For Animal Use Only" and "A food supplement for horses in training". Givney informed Flanagan of his concerns. The coach responded: "This is the last straw." Second-rower Anthony Tupou finishes the match with bizarre bruising. Sharks lose to Knights 24-20.

April 23 (Rd 7): Players no longer given tablets and switch to peptide cream from that round's game against North Queensland until Dank's departure on May 29. It's alleged Givney, Noakes and Flanagan all saw the creams. They came in bright orange tubes and were labelled CJC-1295 and GHRP-6. They were rubbed into the forearms. The report alleges Elkin waited in the dressing rooms with the tubes concealed and applied the cream immediately before matches. Sharks lose 30-12.

April 29 (Rd 8): Sharks beat Souths 31-12.

May 8 (Rd 9): Elkin sends a text to Schultz informing him that players are undergoing blood tests. Schultz informs Givney. The Sharks have the bye.

May 15 (Rd 10): Gordon finishes the match against Sydney Roosters with severe bruising. Tupou and Taulima Tautai had suffered similar bruising, although not as bad, after previous games. Givney took photos of the bruising. Givney also asked Gordon for a blood sample, to which the former winger replied: "Not more needles!" Givney raised his concerns with Mooney and Flanagan about Dank talking privately to players about supplements. Gordon again produced a bottle of BB Formula and alleged that Dank told him to take it to help him put on weight.

May 20: Schultz outlines the bruising on Tautai, Tupou and Gordon to Givney via text message. Givney replies: "Maybe something in the supplements?" Schultz approaches Elkin to ask about the bruising. He's told to ask Dank.

May 22: Schultz sends an email to Dank requesting the details of treatment for Gordon, Tupou and Tautai.

May 22 (Rd 11): Dank replies with an email. It reveals that all three players received one Humanofort tablet on the day before and then immediately prior to the Roosters game. Tupou was also given two Humanofort tablets ahead of the two previous games. Sharks lose to Parramatta 40-6.

May 29 (Rd 12): The day of Dank's departure, which begins with a "major argument" between Elkin and Givney. Givney demands that all "injections and homemade supplements are to stop". It is alleged Elkin replies: "We need a doctor on the cutting edge, not just someone who shows up on game day." Givney threatens to resign. Schultz does likewise in his support. In the change room at AAMI Park, Schultz, Givney and Flanagan all make it clear that Dank is no longer welcome. This is done in front of the players. Dank replies with a threat to sue Flanagan should the coach ever imply he did something wrong. Elkin's role is restricted to strength and conditioning.

May 31: Dank sends another email to Schultz outlining details about Gamma Oryzanol, the main ingredient of the BB Formula that was given to Gordon. Dank claims it is "a very benign naturopathic extract. I have been using it since 2005. It was cleared by ASADA and has never been placed on the banned list."

But I thought Dank was all above board at Manly?!?! Atleast that's what the NRL said last year.............
You have to wonder what the Manly doctor/staff were concerned about??????????

If the the above time line has any fact (DT so who knows), a couple things stand out:
1. It took the club almost a month and a half from Flanno saying "this is the last straw" until Dank was finally given the boot. Doesn't say much for Flannos leadership.
2. The reactions from the Manly staff to the docs enquiries. I wonder if ASADA has questioned them about it at all?
3. Any player that saw the "for animal use only" bottle on April 16th, and continued to be "treated" by Dank, loses all rights to hide behind the "we were duped" excuse IMO. Enough red flags should have been raised that they should have been sought external advice to ensure they weren't breaching the ASADA rules.
4. However none of the above takes away from the fact that The club owed the players a greater duty of care.

NRL is such an embarrassment that Perth doesn't deserve to get a team and be tainted by the crappiness of the NRL. Hopefully this decision can please Perth Red

So Tim Watson had a massive whinge at Masters last night and stated that the article he wrote about the AFL considering a 6 month ban was untrue and demanded an apology.

Today there is multiple news sources backing up Roy's article.

Good one Timmy.

Former players poised to sue Cronulla Sharks

The Australian
August 26, 2014 12:00AM

SEVERAL former Cronulla players are poised to begin legal action against the club over its 2011 supplements program once the World Anti-Doping Agency signs off on the year-long bans imposed last Friday.

It has been confirmed at least two players — concerned about the health implications of the peptides they were exposed to and the financial implications of the bans — have engaged lawyers to start litigation against the Sharks.

But first the players want to see if WADA confirms the sanctions handed down by the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority.

The NRL issued infraction notices against 12 former and current Sharks players based on the ASADA evidence against them.

WADA has 21 days to respond to ASADA’s actions and is not expected to appeal the suspensions.

ASADA boss Ben McDevitt has kept WADA briefed on the Sharks investigation, but the world body still has to sign off on the sanctions.

The two players waiting to commence legal action are not connected to the civil action being taken by three former players — Josh Cordoba, Broderick Wright and Isaac Gordon — who claim the Sharks failed in their duty of care during the three-month period in 2011.

That was when players were unwittingly and unknowingly injected with two banned substances, one a peptide and one a growth hormone mimmick. The players were given assurances the substances were legal.

The 12 past and present players accepting the bans are Paul Gallen, Wade Graham, Anthony Tupou, Nathan Gardner, John Morris, Jeremy Smith, Kade Snowden, Matthew Wright, Albert Kelly, Luke Douglas, Cordoba and Wright.

Seven of them were forced to withdraw from weekend matches and cannot play the remaining two games of the regular season or any finals. Two players have season-ending injuries, another three announced their retirements earlier this year.

The potential lawsuits aren’t the only problem confronting the Sharks, as the NRL is still to decide on whether any of their banned players are eligible for any of the game’s higher honours including Dally M Awards, the Brad Fittler Medal and the grand final lap of honour for those retiring.

Sharks skipper Gallen could be in line for captain of the year, lock of the year and representative player of the year at the Dally M Awards, which will be held (September 29) in grand final week. He is also in contention for the Brad Fittler Medal at the NSWRL awards night on September 10.

There were reports last night that the Blues could boycott the presentation night in protest at comments by Fittler over the weekend. He said Gallen should not be eligible for his medal after being banned.

Veteran hooker Morris, who retired on 300 games in May because of a neck injury, would have been honoured alongside other players who are hanging up the boots with a lap of honour at ANZ Stadium on grand final day.

The NRL is expected to make a ruling on the matters next week and Cronulla chief executive Steve Noyce said he was hopeful of a positive outcome. He added that Morris had been a loyal servant of the game for a number of years and he should be able to celebrate that with fans.

“When ASADA pools all its resources into an investigation that spans 18 months and comes up with (the words) ‘unwittingly’ and ‘unknowingly’, I think Australians are fair minded people who would go ‘He’s been let down by people that he trusted’ and therefore deserves the accolades,’’ Noyce said.

Cronulla is set to finish last this season — it will be the club’s first wooden spoon since 1969. And that situation only worsened yesterday with judiciary charges and injuries cutting a swath through a club already on its knees.

Meanwhile, Australian Olympic Committee president John Coates embraced the new WADA code to come into effect next year and has started moves preventing Rio-bound athletes from dealing with coaches, trainers, sports scientists and other support staff who have violated anti-doping laws.

The new WADA code begins January 1, 2015. The AOC’s shadow team members will be obliged to sign.

WTF?

Has a captain of a spoon winning side ever won captain of the year?
Has a player who has played only 9 games in a season ever been considered for a Player of the year Award? That's even disregarding the fact the Sam Burgess will win lock of the year quite easily IMO.

I notice that the article failed to mention that this drug ban also probably means that Gallen probably won't be the Australian of the Year.

As if Gal is going to get any individual awards this year, he's hardly played & when he has he hasn't stood out.

Let me guess, you read this in the Telegraph?
