Two really poor tries conceded through the Panthers left edge of Luai and Crichton left NSW under pressure.

Hynes missed his assignment on Munster and he will own that.

Hynes aint a centre. Picking players based on reputation and not form got them again. Tommy and Teddy were shit. Slater showed his hand early by selecting two 9s. Api was done around 60 mins couldn't keep up.
Tallis was exactly right in his pre game comments

Sorry Fellas, this notion of “It’s great for Nicho to be in the NSW Camp” doesn’t sit well with me. Fittler and John’s are imbeciles, McGregor has no First Grade success and whilst I don’t mind Buderus he doesn’t offer anything significant.

I would suggest that the Fitzgibbon, Hannah, Price and Houldsworth Team offers more than NSW.

The very simple reason for QLD’s success is that they want it more, and they take a team first approach. I see too many NSW Superstars taking the selfish play at the expense of the team.

On Brad Fittler, did a great job winning his first series. What happens though is that with a little bit of success, they start taking themselves seriously a Coaches and then attempt to pull of miraculous high risk selections so they are seen as geniuses.

Clearly, Nicho was a media selection and Fittler didn’t have the courage of his convictions to stand up and say no - it’s like dollars for donuts. Did anyone think it was odd that Nicho was No.17? Everyone had him as the 14 which is generally considered the key play maker off the bench.

Stupid to pick hynes as injury cover when he can only realistically play in two spots, was a dumb pick by a dumb coach, Hudson young, JAC and Tedesco had shockers we needed a 2nd hooker, even picking McInnes to start the first twenty and the transition to middle would of done a job and then didn’t have to pick two hookers.

but if your picking a bench player to only be emergency cover why don’t they just pick a second hooker, I thought luai played well but panthers ball just doesn’t work in origin we played too flat and when we changed it up because of Queensland rushing on the edges we got more flat and resorted to inside balls. Dumb

Yeo also doesn’t work in origin it’s too slow and telegraphed

Liam Martin though, f**k he is a gun would love him at the sharks to replace Wilton but that’s a pipe dream

With Alexander and Fittler in charge, it is Panthers ball all the way. Everyone knew it didn't work last season, so do exactly the same again.

Tedesco is all effort and energy. Physically he has lost a yard which brings him right back to the field at this level.

Luai was ok but he is a second fiddle. Sticks on the left edge, doesnt have any real vision. Defensively, he was most culpable for the first try and he missed the cover tackle on Cobbo.

Everyone saying put Edwards at 1. f**k that put Latrell there. I'd put Sifa in centre
Easy fix.
put the Sharks backline in origin with a mongrel forward pack.
No 1 attack in the comp.

I'd happily have Kennedy at the back for the blues. At least he can pass the ball and run a sweep play.

Tedesco has become one dimensional.

Had the same thought myself last night.

They keep crapping on about ‘combinations’. How’s this for one: Nicho at 6 and Sifa outside him.
It’s been pretty lethal the past season or so.

Piss Luai and Crighton right off.

This won’t happen, but NSW could actually do worse than have Fitzy as their coach.

Sure, have Fittler, Johns, Buderus etc as assistants, but Fittler is just so Panther/Rooster-centric, he can’t think beyond it.

Johns needs to go imo, having him around camp has never done anyone any good imo.
Newcastle will never be anything with him around and feel NSW are the same.
How many half’s has he taken under his wing and talked up for them to all fall flat.

Cleary & Tedesco were terrible, considering the amount of ball we had.

Teddy is already a yard off the pace at club level this year, and hogging it more than ever to compensate. So no surprise it got even more exposed at Origin level, he was a handbrake on our attack. Sure he puts in a lot of effort - but that can't cover up he is off the pace for Origin.

Cleary just doesn't have the creativity at Origin level like say Munster has. Qld were obviously rushing up on both sides to cut us off, Cleary did not respond or adapt at all.

Cam Murray was good when he came on, he needs to be 13 instead of Yeo.
And Hudson Young & TPJ were completely underwhelming, just error/penalty magnets.

But above all of that, Freddy just doesn't have the tactical nous as an Origin coach.
Slater is streets ahead of him.

A telling moment for me was post-game interview with Fitler. He was asked why the attack looked clunky, and his response was along the lines of 'I don't know, need to look at it to see what caused it and if there was anything their defence was doing to cause it'.
For me, that shows Freddie ain't a coach - he should have been able to identify mid-game if there was a QLD defensive tactic causing a breakdown, and implement plan B or C, but clearly there was only a plan A, and no consideration on what to do if that isn't working. A coaching team needs to be agile enough to make changes on the run.
I'd also say your 6 and 7 should also be able to identify it and make changes on the run. Shows a lack of natural game management talent - Luai and Cleary are structure players. Take a look at Munster and DCE, they can see what's happening in front of then and adapt.
