The fact is if Ossie wasn't a publicity whore any issues or problems IF THEY EXIST would all be in house. Denis was a dick but he wasn't as attention seeking as Ossie. Would Denis go on the footy show and every sports show known to man, no. As Mum always said there are some things that a re family things that stay inside the house. Ossie admitted he shouldn't have said as much as he did last week.

I suppose his comment about Melbourne needing a rugby league team as much as Iceland needs a volleyball team was not 'attention-seeking'?

Wasn't Joshie the one that broke Cayless' retirement news? I'd hardly call that positive...

well in hinesight it definitely wasn't positive but the issue came some 2 hours later when caylo expressed his dissapointment at his own press conference.

the news that Josh broke wasn't in any way meant to be negative but it was a scoop.

It may not meant to have been negative, but it just proved that Joshie's little "scoops" haven't always been a good thing - far from it.

I wrote an email to the club to ask whether they had found who leaked the news yet, and whether disciplinary action was taken. That issue was glossed over in Ozzie's general email to members, and I look forward to receiving the Club's reply.

Nice work Bart - be interested to hear/read the reply should you get one...

No worries. I think the Spagnolo newspaper article said they weren't pursuing it further, but it would nice as a member to get an official response on that apparently divisive issue, and how it arose.

No just someone who wants success on the field. I have forked out money as a Football Club member while most people couldn't give a damn.

:? Why do you try and put yourself on a pedestal, when you full well know there are hundreds if not thousands of others who have done the same for 10/20/30/40 years or more?

Please explain your motivation for a comment like this. :?

The football club only ever had a few hundred members didn't it, prior to Hellsy's recruitment drive?

I love this club just as much as anyone else here - my 30,000 posts on this brilliant forum are a testament to that. That, and the fact I have no life...

But it was only this year when I was really able to become a member...I have been supporting the Eels and rugby league since 2000 (I know - it's nothing compared to others), so does that mean according to some that I have been a "fraud" supporter for 9 years and only became a "true" supporter this year when I became a member?

For the record, I can't attend many games due to work commitments, which is why I am a non-ticketed member. But I don't care if we lose every game - if I am available I am at Parramatta Stadium (or ANZ or whatever) to watch the boys and cheer them on. I don't have the financial means to buy every bit of supporter gear or attend every game (although truth be told, if I could find the time, I'd find the money to go to every game - trust me!), but I am a mad, mad Eels supporter and fan and I have to say I resent the implication that the only true supporters are members. My father has been supporting them since the 70's - he's vocal about changes and often critical. He loves this team to death - yet he's not a member. Again - finance issue (and the fact he was screwed over by the company he worked for for 35 years). Is he therefore not a real supporter?

Sorry. Touchy subject.

good on ya eele, i too have only been a supporter a shorter time than some on this forum (due to my age more than anything) been a supporter 17 years now and love the Eels, ive been up to brisbane with them when i was sick and that was a donation by the club for the starlight foundation (even though i never wished for that) they got wind of it that i was an eels fan and offered it too me along with a signed jersey etc etcthat was back in 02 and was the best week of my life so far.

i believe we can still make something out of this year its only early. i may not be the biggest league head and may not totally understand some aspects of th game etc but i understand my club the parramatta eels and when i was younger my parents use to always catch me out with the big league or on the eels website when i was meant to be studying or doing homework i could recite eels scores etc this frustrated my parents to no end 'why can't u recite ur multiplication tables like that' hahaha

i ahve faith in this club and will follow them till the day i die with my heart and an eel on my sleeve!

I've never met you mate but we have had a couple of PM's re off topic stuff.
Don't believe the wanker hype.
You are as true as a supporter as parra pete or Lingard or Crazy Eel - those that have been following the Eels for 40 years or more.
Keep it up and keep us proud.

Don't be sorry mate, I feel exactly the same as you, except my reasons for not becoming a member are location based, not financial.

Everyone here supports the club/team in their own way, and it's not for other fans to judge whether they are right or wrong. If you say you're dad has been following the team since the 70's but is not a member, does that give him the right to be vocal about changes or be critical? f**k yeah it does!

It's holier-than-thou bullsh*t attitudes like "I've paid my membership so I deserve better" people that need to realise that they're more or less having their cake and eating it too.
