The whole "active support" thing and crews and groups etc is rubbish anyway, it's from the dark ages.

After yesterday, A-League fans shouldn't be allowed any behind goal veiwing positions, until all of the clubs and the league/APL get all the dodgy shit (including flares etc) sorted out for good.

You don't get to have the nice things if you can't show that you treat the nice things how you should (at grounds where fans of other codes have no trouble complying).

The active support thing is fun and cool. The problem is it's not very inclusive. Unless you're a young dickhead hungry for a bit of agro and bullshit, you're not really welcome there, or at least you wouldn't feel welcome. I'm sure most/all of these active support f**kwits would hate to hurt families with children, but they don't really care (or just can't tell) if those families are f**king terrified.

Personally, I think we've witnessed enough over the years (including the pre-A League NSL crowd debacles) to know that people who get wrapped up in this "active support" ethos are simply dumb as f**k.

I'll stick with dumb as f**k thanks. It's not narrow minded to form an opinion based on the available evidence. The supposed "passion" on display is just low IQ - just like the Bulldogs crowds when they were causing strife.

FFS, just come to the footy without bringing in flares, come without a belief system that makes you want to fight opposing fans/players/cameras or the league that puts the games on, and come without an urge to pitch invade at the drop of a hat. It's not hard - and their selfish failure to gracefully do so is holding back soccer in this country.

And so do I. Big time

Last night was a complete disgrace. Absolutely completely unacceptable and how anyone could ever defend the actions of those animals is beyond me. A couple of hundred not even football fans out of more than 15000 were there for trouble. Anyone who jumped the fence and entered the field of play should serve serious bans. The clearly visible guy who threw the flare bucket at Glover should do jail time.

I was watching last night and was saddened to see what I saw.
The peaceful planned protests had already had an affect at earlier games.
The fans had produced some damning banners against the APL and that sort of protest has worked in the past.
The active support fans of all clubs have had a decent relationship with the APL this season already. The Sydney derby was superb, passionate and relatively incident free. Plenty of flares of course, but it went by.

Melbourne Victory fans ruined everything last night that not only active fans, but fans of the game in general were fighting for this weekend. That was, to overturn the stupid "hold all grand finals in Sydney" decision this week by the APL.

I hope Tom Glover is ok but he seriously has to serve a sanction as well. Shit only kicked off when he threw a smoke flare back into the crowd. The Victory fans of course were itching for a fight.
The players are educated on protocols in these sorts of situations. The Victory goalie at the other end had flares thrown towards him by City fans and reacted acccordingly to those protocols. He did the right thing. Glover did not.

In this video, the commentator actually says "Glover has to be careful there.

And in this one, Glover can clearly be seen throwing a smokie - not a flare, back into the active end. And that is when it all kicked off.

*removed, word filter breach*

And for the two arse wipes here suggesting I would ever defend this fan behavior, lol. You can both gagf.

I was questioning Poupou's comment and intent, rather than suggesting you would defend this Suity.

But while you're here - have the Victory crowd (active or otherwise) always been a level dumber than every one else? Or do you see this as more of a one off brain snap by their active groups/crews?

I didn’t think you would defend the behaviour, but I did assume you would blame someone else for it. In this case I agree Glover f**ked up massively.

No I didn’t. You finished with a focus on Glover. The fact I agree doesn’t change that. I am also a deadshit who blames others for my problems.

Good to see that you again argue you are never wrong. What a surprise!
I added another side to the story as to why things may have got out of control. I suggested Glover was just a part of that.
I provided some proof why I thought that. Whether it would have made a difference I don't know.
But what is clear here is you have done what you always love to do and that is create a discussion which you will try and tilt your way no matter what others say.
