No it isn't. He didn't know who threw it, and even if he did he couldn't guarantee he would hit the right merkin when he threw it back.

Theres also no guarantee hitting one of his thug mates /wanker activists that are around him either (though that would be wonderful tbh)

So throwing a flare (or whatever dangerous) back into the crowd, potentially hurting an innocent patron is perfectly fine?

No it isn't and I understand your point. Tom Glover should also be held to account and issued with a show cause.
Players are well aware of the protocols in these situations and are well educated on the procedures in these situations. Security and ground staff are instructed to deal with flares, not players.
At the City end, Vukovic the Victory keeper, despite not following the rules, picked up a few flares and placed them behind the goal line and off the field of play. Well played.

Glover threw two flares away from his area. The first was gently lobbed back behind the advertising hoardings. The second was hurled upwards and into the crowd, inflaming what was already a volatile situation. It was a seriously dangerous action.
And before the emotionally uneducated accuse me of supporting the actions of the 150 f**kwits, you already know my thoughts on that. I don't feel the need to repeat it ad nauseum.

Lesson learned I'd say for "innocent" patron who chooses to sit (stand) with the "active" neathderthal flare f**kwits, and cheer on their illegal antics week to week.

The league has to protect its players from this rubbish, and come down hard on these "active" clowns. As I've said earlier in the thread, charging any less than the 150 who have come onto the ground is pissweak, and Victory should not be allowed any behind goal/active viewing at all any more.

And that any future instance of a flare brought into the ground by fans of another club should be penalised in the same way - until they've stamped this shit out for the sake of the future of code, and so its continuation doesn't adversely impact family participation rates in the sport. Or they can be happy with their 1970s-1980s NSL violence (or "passion" lol) and the sport can hold a minor niche status for ever - which would be a crying shame.
Flares belong in the 70s

Actually, instead of a jail anklet, the 150 members of the Victory active crew should be made to wear those, while serving out their sentence or community service order!

Good to see some hard measures... hopefully only the start, or the minimum measures we can expect to continue:

* No Melbourne Victory fans will be able to attend the Boxing Day match against Western United as a result of the restrictions

* All home and away active bays, where fans are encouraged to demonstrate support for their team, will be closed for Melbourne Victory home games played in Victoria.

* Only members and supporters of the opposing team will be allowed to attend away games involving Melbourne Victory while FA finalises penalties against the club.

Also 29 now arrested... but only 36 of 150 identified.

So still a long way to go - not a lot of self-identification from these "active" knuckle draggers.

#passion 😂

And nothing mentioned about "holding the keeper accountable" - nor should there be.

Guy should get a f**king medal actually, for blowing this open so the league and police can start to root thug element out of the code, and keep game day attractive (one day) for a potential larger/future audience.

Well the dude did get bashed with a bucket. It wouldn’t really be fair to sanction him for his shit choices at this difficult time.

I am an observer of the Premier League without being invested in all the games.

My side Fulham is doing well this year and should actually stay up this time.

But after seeing Brentford knock off Liverpool this morning

It feels like there have been more boil overs by these little clubs over the giants in Liverpool, Man U this year.

My club Newcastle is also doing rather well this season. :)
