I don't really care that the quality is better if I don't care about any of the teams. It's the same thing with the Bundesliga, the Serie A and the NFL.

Well, that's fine for you... each to their own.

I'd rather watch and enjoy a good quality example of the sport, than get dressed up in my RBB gear and cheer on a team I "care about" in a shit quality game.

A-League fan whinging about those 10 year bans being published by the Telegraph lose their Press Council complaint...

The question is whether the publication took reasonable steps to determine the accuracy and fairness of the information in the article. In the absence of any significant doubts about the veracity of the FFA dossier, the publication was entitled to report its findings, and accordingly the Council concludes it took reasonable steps.

Given the 10 year ban imposed on the complainant, a penalty normally reserved for serious anti-social behaviour, the same logic can be applied to the publication’s use of the terms “louts” and “shame file”. Accordingly, the Council does not uphold the complaint in relation to General Principles 1 and 3. In light of these conclusions and the publication’s offer of a right of reply, the Council also considers there was no breach of General Principles 2 and 4.

Scott Jamieson talking with his feet and leaving the Wanderers set up for a season or two in Gothenburg.
http://www.smh.com.au/sport/soccer/...for-nikolai-toporstanley-20160815-gqt0ts.html

After Scott Jamieson's recent departure, the Wanderers are now shopping around their most capped player, captain and foundation player Nikolai Topor-Stanley!

It would be like the Eels getting rid of Mannah early, in the off-season.... But no overseas clubs are buying NTS, so it looks like WSW will just end up giving a free kick to another A-League club...

For someone who despises A League and Wanderers so much - you seem to keep a pretty close watch on what is going on. If I don't like something I generally couldn't give a toss about it and avoid it but each to their own.

No different to me roasting AFL in the non footy chat thread really.

Which BTW as much as I don't care much about A-League or AFL, gotta give props to GWS who are really kicking goals (

) for a such a young club.

They won 16 from 22. Good result I thought. No ? Minor Premier (Swans) won 17.

Why wouldn't they?
The AFL are pumping 20 million into the club a season.
Giving them all the best draft picks year after year.
Free tickets galore out west mate. Unbelievable how many they give away, and how few people use them.
They falsify crowd figures. That's f**king obvious. Half their members are from Canberra. Western Sydney? lol.

They conned millions out of the state govt and local council to build their training camp out at Blacktown, and within two seasons they had abandoned that and hijacked the golf driving range at Homebush Bay, with even more govt funding to set that up. The imports from other states didn't connect with the "real" west. All the white boys couldn't cope with the multi cultural diversity of Sydney's west. That's why they move them all into Breakfast Point.
They also conned the govt to pump $50 million into Spotless, a stadium they can't even fill during a successful season.
Not to mention the local council grounds they have taken over in the west, at the expense of Rugby League and football.
Let's not mention the culture. It's Straya's game mate. No racism. No misogyny. Even this latest episode with that Whitfield kid from GWS (or whatever his name is) avoiding being drug tested has massive cover ups going on so just not to hurt the upcoming derby. They are blaming the ex girlfriend who raised the issue at the time over 12 months ago because she was worried about his welfare. Reported today that he is coping ok under the duress. f**king hahaha.
The game is an embarrassment to this country, and very, very few people in the West could give two shits about them.
Rant over.

Good for you, and as you said, each to their own...

You seem to keep a pretty close watch on what I post about, rather than not giving a toss about it... but it seems you're not alone here in that obsession.

I remember the days when people on here discussed, debated and respectfully disagreed topics, rather than go out of their way to post personal statements to/about other posters, as you appear to have just done.

It's a shame to have witnessed the general increase of "playing the man" rather than each to their own over the years. Imo that is the factor that has taken this forum away from the days (as some have recently described) when everyone here was friends.

Rant over. Looking forward to your next out of the blue personally directed contribution...

My comment was not to side with the AFL or even enter into debate about aerial ping pong, but they seem to be pretty smart operators. IIRC GSW played their 100th game the other day and they are already knocking on the premiership door.

They do get salary cap concessions but the biggest beef against them seems to be that their "nursery" includes the Riverina and that has given them access to a heap of good kids.

The salary cap, known officially as Total Player Payments, is A$10,600,000 for the 2016 season with a salary floor of $10,070,000 except for Greater Western Sydney, whose salary cap is $10,886,000 with a floor of $10,336,000.

Anyway I've got nothing against them nor support the AFL in anyway, however you can't not be impressed from afar. It's not as if they were given a Garry Ablett Jnr like Gold Coast in 2011.

[Spooky BTW that our Gold Coast team were given Jarryd Hayne in 2016 actually. Maybe history taught Todd something]

Back on topic...

Almost 19,000 is a good crowd for international soccer over there. This is a step up in quality - only two A-League players in the Socceroo squad, if you count Timmy Cahill.

And 2-0 over Iraq is good result for the Socceroos, bodes well for the World Cup campaign!

The thread is called Association Football, Suity. Unlike your previous five posts in this thread, mine was on topic... and you're the one calling people names?

Just to give you a chance to reply and discuss on topic (rather than continue to "play the man") I'll ask you directly - did you enjoy the Socceroos match Suity? Do you think they're shaping up well in the quest to qualify?
