No shit Sherlock?
How could someone who is so smart, miss my point?
Unless, once again, they are trying to pick an argument. (That would be a surprise).
Nah I don't get your point. You think the A-League would be better off supporting one of the regional NSW teams than improving the much more important second Melbourne team?

If so I disagree. That was my point.

I think they should try and keep the whole League strong. That was my point. Not prop a team that is already financially strong. That is what they have done.

It would be nice not to have laggards but other leagues around the world have shown that you only need to have a handful of strong teams (as opposed to just one or two) to keep things exciting. The race at the top is what's exciting for everyone. The race at the bottom much less so other than for fans of those teams involved.

But the A-League cannot afford to have any other NQ Fury's or Gold Coast Fat-Mans.
Why artificially strengthen a team that already has the funds at the expense of a club or two that don't?
Why do that when you only have a 10 team League?

I agree it sucks to see teams die. But are the Jets or Mariners in any danger? The game needs to grow, and that means more strong teams in big markets rather than fewer weak teams in small markets. The Sydney and Melbourne derbies, plus the state capital teams (Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth) are what will sell the league to sponsors and broadcasters in the short term. This is what will enable expansion, as well as allow for propping up the small clubs financially.

What's artificial about it? Their wealth is irrelevant if they're unable to spend it. Hence the extra marquee. And do you really think Cahill would have come back to live in Newcastle or Gosford?

Cahill would have wanted to go to a "winning"/competitive team, not to try and rebuild a loser team. It would have been part of the deal for him to come back, nothing surer.

The FFA had a choice- sign Cahill for a strong team or not sign him at all. A no-brainer for the FFA to try and strengthen (perception of) its A-League, but people still whinge.

Those f**king WSWers cost me a full round in tipping last week. I tipped them to draw again at home this week, so they'd better bloody deliver!
