I reckon we got him cheap, yeah.

Bit I reckon goalkeeper is an area where you need to spend decent coin; they're not outright game winners like a good striker or midfielder, but a good keeper can rescue some points for your side.

Redmayne can't even do that lol.

There's a stark difference in quality between what Sydney FC are bring to the table this season, and what WS Wanderers are dealing up.

Surely Popa's days are numbered? Sydney is sky blue...

I was thinking anything less than an 8-0 win would be a good reason for mass sackings. Looks like the blokes who wear the canary yellow shirts had the same shit attitude as me.

Lol

To me, they look a little complacent.

Thailand are playing great football, though.

Wtf are the Socceroos doing????
Lol, they're proudly displaying the undoubted benefits of their ever improving domestic league...

We're the only side in the third round that has given Thailand a point - WC Qualification is looking a bit dicey. One win, three draws and a loss at the half way point in the third round... we'd better hope our performances in 2017 are a step up or we may miss out.

You probably need to hire a fact checker. Basically that result probably means we need to win rest at home and not lose away, and getting results in Japan and Mid East will be tough

OK, two wins and three draws - the group table layout was confusing. But at the halfway point we are just clinging onto (equal) third place... and as stated are at risk of missing out - unless our 2017 results are better than our first five qualifying games in this round have been.

Iraq away, UAE at home, Saudis at home, Japan away, Thailand at home.
On form I can easily see loss, draw, win, loss, draw - and Ange has some major work to do.

The good news I reckon from here is Japan will probably go undefeated & the Iraqis & Thais have too much work to do (even if one of them goes undefeated from here, it'll be our fault if we don't stay ahead of them) so it'll probably just come down to the 3 games involving us, Saudis & Emirates.

And that all said, based solely on last nights game, how the f**k is their midget midfielder not playing in Europe somewhere? He absolutely carved us up. Some of his passes were better than you'll see come out of EPL

I know we were missing Cahill, but we have serious finishing issues.

Rogic was class, though.

No excuses for last night.
I had a chat with a former Socceroos captain today and he was astounded at the loss, but gave Thailand full credit.
I was impressed as well. They played beyond themselves, and we were poor.

Full credit to Thailand - they were very good.

But we should have been much, much better.

Our inability to finish chances has plagued is for decades, and it still seems to be an issue.

Hopefully, with Juric and Cahill returning, we can fix that.

Im certainly no soccer expert, but it really has felt like we can never finish until Cahill came along ... now he's on the way out maybe back to status quo?

We don't have many high quality strikers, but Juric is up there imo.

Our other major problem is that our wingers beat their defenders with pace, and then look lost at sea - time and time again, Leckie, Burns and Kruse beat their defenders and then just hoofed a pass into the box with no intended target.

Burns, in particular, undid a lot of his good work by crossing balls to absolutely nobody.

Yeah well if we were mourning our dead king I'm sure we would have lifted as well

Thailand are ranked world number 146. Australia are ranked world number 40.

In addition, up until last night, Thailand had not taken home a single point in this part of their campaign.

They played well, but the Roos were abysmal.
