Cheers mate.
I should have guessed!! lol.

Let me ask you another question,

If, as is proposed, a 3rd Sydney A-League team comes in from Southern Sydney, would you support them??
This isn't a loaded question btw.
I get asked this question a lot. It would depend upon where they are based and if there was a proper pathway for our juniors to make it to the senior A League Team. It would however cannibalise many fans from this area as the vast majority are strong Sydney FC fans. Even now all rep teams in this area consistently have their kids go to Sydney FC games and make a day of it. Being light blue also helps as that is the traditional colour of all teams embedded in the Sutherland Shire as is the relative short distance to Allianz (about 22km).

And another thing our derby is still the best in the League. A third Sydney Club would diminish it IMHO.

I've asked other ESFC fans the same question. My sister lives in the Shire, and she has a heap of friends that support esfc, as does her family, even though they grew up in the west and still support Parra. They are in two minds, but I got the feeling that they are so Shire minded, that they would support the new team. There's nothing like supporting your local team.
I reckon it would go a split of 50/50. Just like the last expansion did.

No question about that. The Sydney derby is immense. No NRL game has ever had a crowd of over 60000 to a regular season game. Yes, it would probably diminish it a little, but that original rivalry would always be there, so maybe that wouldn't be as big a problem as you think. A new team will always attract a large away contingent anyway, which is what I think Gallop is thinking anyway. It's a far different mentality to RL.

The team for all of Sydney, undefeated after 8 rounds, on a perfect weather night in the perfect time slot, vs last years champions, could only get 13000 to their game.
Spiffing result there.
Last year's champions or this year's cellar dwellers?

Well it was a spiffing result... they're still undefeated and top of the table.

Results count. There's more to soccer than crowd figures, even if tifo-waving, seat-breaking, back-turning "active" "supporters" (who are happy to abandon their team in random protest) think otherwise.

Watching the W-League women's Melbourne Derby on ABC... the quality of play and skills is just as good as A-League imo, and (for those who think it's important for excitement) the closeness of score/result is there as well (at 0-0).

The only difference to A-League is that (sadly) virtually nobody is in the crowd watching, the commentators don't pretend to be excited as much, and there are no dickhead "active" supporters behaving badly or damaging the stadium.

W-League > A-League imo.

There is actually genuine interest in my area of putting a third Sydney based A League Team. A south western suburbs businessman that lives locally here and a family friend (who has poured millions into of all teams - Sydney United) told me he was approached to be the Chairman of the inaugural board but advised them he was too old and busy to do it. My friend is a workaholic with a heart of gold.

It was during the time when they were not sure of whether they would be granting Wellington a licence.

I even personally suggested to him of the colours that the new club should be.

Women's football is football-in-slow-motion. That's why the skills seem as good. They have a lot more time to control the ball and make decisions.

The A-League doesn't feature the skill of the top leagues but physically it's as good as any and better than plenty. If they pressed as hard in South America as they do in Australia (or Europe) their players would have a lot less time on the ball too.

I'd like to see Karlsruher SC play WSW, just to see what happens.
