Feeling we are going to muck around against the lesser bowlers then ask the all rounders to come in and take 9-10 an over from Starc and Cummins

Weak, wasting our bowling effort with no intent.

I can understand some stonewalling, but someone in the top four just *had* to have a crack at them. It’s like the famous Eden Park win, wouldn’t have happened without the McCullum blitz.

Not winning the cup with that.

Dare I say it, a bit of Munro intent would have been nice !!

Sad to say that after Williamson my favourite innings of the day was De Grandhomme lol, at least he tried something. No doubt was sent out there to have a crack from ball 1 because we had dug the hole so deep

Sending de Grandhomme out with Guptill would’ve been an inspired move; get a few glorious slogs away, push back the pressure and we might have bitten off 40-50 quick runs to allow the rest to nudge it out.

Munro can’t hit his way out of a wet paper bag, but sadly the idea of Munro as you say makes sense in a 200-250 chase.

This may sound nuts, but Gayle and Hetmeyer had the right idea when they started plundering our attack suddenly.

They’d have cruised home if they didn’t go all West Indies on us, and almost stole it anyway with the tail because of that buffer earlier.

WC deflation, I read the game posts from start to finish, not knowing the final result.

We blew it, man. We blew it.

Aussie are just a class above.
Their cup to lose.

Boults hat trick and a few solid catches only highlights.

And cracking open their top order. This seemed typical Black Caps, letting the occasion get to us.

It seems a mental thing. Maybe the Warriors headshrinks need to be flown over?

Nearly seems a NZ thing that only ABs have sorted in recent years.
To much Kiwi Sport and certificates for all?

I actually like that we may be hitting the semi finals a bit cold, less pressure than turning up as the hot side

I believe an India win tonight would confirm us as being in

So where does this leave us now? (England beating India).

Pretty sure we will still make the semis- at least, it's very unlikely that we won't. I think only Bangladesh is really in with a change of getting past us (or England).

Most likely;

If we beat England, we play India in a semi
If we lose, we play Australia in a semi

I'd rather play India. They appear to have some bowlers we can take apart, and some batsmen we can, um, oh anyway. Yeah, India.

Australia have the humourless big brother in the backyard thing over us at the moment.

I think I'd rather play India, but I don't really think we have any business being in the final at the moment.

As touched on by previous posters, I'm hoping it's like a reverse of '92 (when we were generally upset to lose our semi to Pakistan). We'll go into a (probable) semi-final spot quite a bit cold. Players like Guptil might do something then, as opposed to now.
