Germany has the same skilled migration policy as us.

Skilled migration made you a powerful millionaire. Family reunion policies attached to skilled migration is compassionate. That's what countries like us do. By saying "out west" I am guessing you mean more affordable ? BTW nobody who is accepted under the skilled migration visa scheme is "dumped". There are two types subclass 190 and employee sponsored 491. These people Make Australia Great Again.

They are lowering our standard of living

Fine. All migrant families should be sent back to where they came from. How many generations should we go back you reckon ? Is three enough ?

Sub continent is where we get them from now. Cause they are very poor amd government knows they desperate for money and cheap

I have no issue with them. Good peaceful people. But there isn't enough houses. In others words. We are full for now.
They aren't very skilled either. They may think they are but their level of skills is at a rubbish standard compared to our as far as trades and Engineers go.

enforcing the racism and xenophobia view 101

Not at all. I have good friends from the sub continent. Doesn't mean they aren't bringing down our standards of living.
I'm a Mediterranean Descendant and where I am from we are known to be tight. I have no issue with being called a tight Mediterranean Descendant. It's fact

Australia has always been built on immigration.
The immigration policy certainly does not need to change and in fact, what we are currently doing with immigration is absolutely boosting our economy.
The Govt's of both persuasions have however, seriously f**ked up with the housing supply that could not support this policy.
That is the issue.

I agree with this, but am not sure how there will be a quick fix with housing supply.

There is so much regulation and planning bullshit that developers need to navigate. It’s been put in place to satisfy the NIMBY’s of the world, a vocal minority that continues to have too much influence.

I am not justifying anything. I'd half immigration untill we get more houses built. It's unfair to people here and also unfair to them.
I actualy work with a few immigrants Most seem a bit depressed and complain how hard they have to work, how shit they get treated and how half their pay goes to rent. Some will finish work and drive an Uber for 2hrs just to survive.
It isn't what they thought they signed up for.

If governments wanted housing prices to level out or decrease they would do so easily with changes to negative gearing, or a reduction in immigration.

But those of you who think the governments want housing prices to level out are kidding themselves . The governments are scammers who are more concerned about themselves.

This is not unique to Sydney or indeed Australia. Housing affordability in popular OECD capitals is expensive and they too have low vacancy rates.

• Zoning Reforms: It is happening, but people are going to have to STFU when the concrete jungle encroaches upon their little bit of paradise.
• Public Housing Investment: Building more social housing will alleviate some of the pressure on the private market. At the moment, we give rent subsidies to tenants and send them out to the private market. One side of politics doesn’t like to build public housing. Who dat ?
• Rent Controls: Implementing rent controls; as seen in parts of New York, can help prevent price gouging. Oooh that’s controversial and anti-market, because it can also deter investment in rental properties.
• Vacancy Taxes: Introducing taxes on vacant properties owned by investors, as London, Melbourne, Sydney have considered, could incentivize owners to rent or sell vacant homes, boosting housing availability. Merkins who leave their properties empty or for Air BNB need to pony up or face a potential Byron Bay situation where short term rentals are all but banned.

Cmon bro. Sydney and most Australian Capital cities has the most unaffordable housing prices in the world. Sydney is either second or third in the world behind Hong Kong- a city in which there's zero space to swing a cat.
It's all government manipulation as to squeeze every last drop out of future generations as to benefit themselves, and the mega rich. Government scammers ripping the every day Australian off. It's almost criminal.
