No, tolerance has definitely increased since the 1930s, while mental illness indicators increased until the nineties, when antidepressant use improved.

This things could be completely unrelated but the correlation is real.

LOL OK cool. My turn.

There is a definite correlation between increased suicide rate in NSW and lack of Parramatta Eels Premierships over the past 33 years.

These things could be completely unrelated but the correlation is real.

How did I go ?

Lol...His correlation is as plausible as Folau’s proclamation that the bushfires and drought are a result of legalising SSM and abortion.

I reckon it has a lot more to do with people wanting more out of life. Wanting more of everything and seeing how others are doing in life so comparing it to self.
My parents generation needed a house to live in and warm food to keep them happy. That just wouldn't cut it these days.
Along with the fact plenty of people are aware of how their life is going to become. The American dream was far easier to fool people with in the 80s. Nowdays people can see the future or in a way how it will look. They are exposed to seeing everything.
People with little education who come from poor families will work 40hrs a week just to enjoy a pub meal and a few beers once the bill's are PAID. Then they jump on Insta and see what others are doing.
While others will be doing fine financially but understand their existence has little meaning due to good education.
We really are all f**ked when you think about it.

There are plenty of correlations between the performance of sporting teams and other social phenomena. They all lend themselves to reasonable hypotheses. Unfortunately because it's social science there is no ethical way to conduct proper scientific experiments around this, which odd why social 'rules' remain contentious. The science is always inconclusive, and so merkins feel free to keep pushing society 'forward'. They can always shift blame for unintended consequences.

Maybe you should apply a little self care tonight and reward yourself with sleeping in a swag next to the shed under the stars ?

As plausible as anything else. Plenty of merkins think higher education makes societies more wealthy, however historically higher education has followed wealth and not the other way around.

It all comes down to a cause and effect hypothesis. If you believe in Folau's angry (and interventionist) god then it's entirely plausible that natural phenomena are punishment for sin.

If you believe that tolerance could lead to anomie or even the celebration of mental illness (when treatment would be more appropriate) then you could see why it would have unintended consequences.

Well what's your reason why mental illness is up?

You've come in halfway on this convo wit Pou. I was taking the piss.

If you want my serious answer on mental illness for Parra fans, I'd say the common denominators would be Roy Spagnolo, Jamie Lyon and Fluffy Kitten.
