There are too many correlations to control for all this. Causation is lost in the noise and more data won't allow for more accurate analysis. It's the same reason algorithms can be racist.

If you have a big enough sample you can deal with any level of multicollinearity. That is the only real solution however.

Hmmmm. So the BBC have temporarily removed 'The Germans' episode from some platforms through which Fawlty Towers is available. My god. Yes, the Major uses the N word 3 times. And it is 10000% clear that it is the Major's views that are being ridiculed.

Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of sympathy with the aims (not methods) of the BLM movement. They are right. Even controlling for levels of education and wealth, and the incidence of criminal offences, black people experience worse outcomes in a range of spheres than others. And I get why some of Chris Lilley's crap has been taken off air, but this is f**king ridiculous and only serves to further the interests of people who want to claim that there's no real problem.

Yes and Netflix took off Gone with the Wind, temporarily. They read the mood of the room. Nothing wrong with that.

They also chopped Little Britain, which was hilarious to everyone except probably @Bazal .

Well it's better than Seinfeld. Low bar, I admit...

Except that it is horse shit. There's a world of difference between portraying a situation and advocating the situation. So we read the mood of the room and decide that people can't watch something that was ok last week? Sorry mate, this (removing crap like GWTW) is absolute bullshit, and will be harmful to the very worthy cause that is being pursued. People (not you) need to grow up and use their brains rather than trying to signal their 'ethics' by making 3-second decisions. Some stuff absolutely should not be publicly promoted.....but it shouldn't have take the recent events to work that out.

Oh well, it’s a private company and the last thing they want is some sort of a social media brouhaha boycotting them because the are streaming this or that. They have rotated them out and will rotate them back in when the coast is clear. I think it’s sensible. If a mad mekin lumberjack took to a supermarket and chopped eveyone up, it’s probably a good idea to give The Texas Chainsaw Massacre a rest for a bit. Their pulling down statues of merkins who traded slaves FFS. They’ve had enough !

Removing things that are reminders of historical cultural realities only serves to appease those that would like to forget them, not those that would seek to point to them as representative of that which has led to where we now are.

A Hitler statue would go down a treat.

A statue is generally a celebration of a life and or an event, not a documentation of historical reality

There is a very distinct difference there, despite the implication of your post.

Celebrating is very different from remembering.
