You're trying to apply the chicken vs the egg to this. Yes, it has relevance in a different conversation, but this conversation is about people of colour dying unnecessarily and disproportionately compared to the greater population.

Mate the first hurdle is affirmative action. There is a huge portion of our county who deny there is a racism problem and think that people of colour should "get over it".

You can't dismiss the cause because there was looting by merkins and a death of a 77yo shop owner (or was he a helping the shop owner ?). Not condoning anything outside peaceful protests at all, but you cannot invalidate the cause because shit got out of hand. How did it get out of hand ? In the famous words of that orange merkin "there are good people on both sides".

Yep. Systemic racism doesn't mean anyone is actually racist, including the cops. Systemic racism means that wealth (and opportunity) are racialised, meaning that some some ethnic groups are more likely to be poor, and therefore their kids (who generally belong to the same ethnic group) will have fewer opportunities to improve. Likewise some ethnic groups (e.g. Asians and Jews) are more likely to be wealthy, and therefore their kids are also more likely to be wealthy.

It doesn't't mean anyone is racist, it means 'the system' is. The question is how to fix it. So far any attempts at this have meant that resources are taken from the lowest status members of the wealthier group (e.g. educational opportunities are taken from Asians at elite US colleges, or job opportunities are designated for non-whites only) and those resources are given to the most privileged members of disadvantaged groups (e.g. black people who have finished high school and can afford college are eligible for quota places at Harvard, or those who meet the HR thresholds are able to fill jobs reserved for those ethnic groups).

Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of sympathy with the aims (not methods) of the BLM movement. They are right. Even controlling for levels of education and wealth, and the incidence of criminal offences, black people experience worse outcomes in a range of spheres than others. And I get why some of Chris Lilley's crap has been taken off air, but this is f**king ridiculous and only serves to further the interests of people who want to claim that there's no real problem.
