Fun fact: the Progressives of this world ALWAYS effect the change that they argue for. Unfortunately it’s the Conservatives that are the political speed humps of this world and cowardly defer, procrastinate and filibuster. History shows that change will happen whether you like it or not.

7 out of the last 9 Australian elections (and ~80 out of the ~120 years since Federation) show that Australians are pretty good at making sure "Progressives" are kept in check so that they only get the changes they want, when they want them. And they want few of them, and slowly, thankyouverymuch.

Making sure change doesn't happen too quickly reduces society's exposure to unintended consequences. You're welcome.

My general observation has been.

The left tend to be more your care free people who enjoy holidays and spending and having fun. They get to an age where they want stability and security but now its a lot harder to get so they make noise.
On the other side your quiet achievers who focussed on careers and future tend to be.
Also seems like the left try and attatch themself with this more advanced,inteligent, evolved and open minded empathetic group and if your not on their side your selfish, narrow minded, old fashioned or a bigot, bogun etc.....

I even seen when Gronk gets angry and starts to get desperate he goes for his favourite word - Bogun.

I reckon the best is 8yrs of one and 8yrs of the other, Balances things out.

I'm not sure the scare campaigns are even needed at this stage. There are never enough people around who support major changes or reforms.

Societies throughout the western world appear to be inherently more conservative these days.

Perhaps that's an overgeneralisation and it's possibly even wrong. But that's what I sense.

Well the scare campaigns are front and centre. In the US Trump brands all Mexicans as rapists and very bad people. Dutton here says refugees on Manus are peodophiles and murderers. Both used slippery slope arguments regarding same sex marriage and abortion. Both propagate renewable energy myths in favour of fossil fuels.

It's because of ageing populations. People tend more conservative as they get older.
