Sure, but accusing Putin of war crimes is not exactly going to make him call his lawyer or make him stop. People can see what is happening, make their own minds up.

Another risk is the US publicly calling on other countries to help. Not because it’s a bad idea, but if you do so publicly and they don’t budge, or resile from the idea, that shows up your weakness. You’re better off in a quiet dialogue- especially with regimes that are not so internationally popular.

There’s allegations of some countries on the take, playing the game, to further what they see as their own interests.

I agree with Japan, the Middle East should be pumping out the petrol like there’s no tomorrow to offset the fuel crisis.

It’s a real challenge for Biden, so far he’s helped us avoid ww3. A few gaffes here and there, but generally quite good.

They are upset with the language used by Biden as to the war criminal stuff as well and want the guarantees their us embassy’s will be open and ok.

A lot of the news is pro-Russian as you would expect. They dig up an old fogey expert to support them and all that.

Both sides will appreciate the other leader has to play to their domestic audience. The US probably gets more latitude as it is more powerful but under threat of the end of the world can’t do much.

Kissinger was talking about this in the 1950’s.

The argument that nuclear weapons keep the peace doesn’t seem to hold true. They seem to be used to threaten and bully.

I don’t buy the argument they were needed to end world war 2. I would have supported development until Hitler lost, but I think the Japanese were finished.

People say that the us would have had to have spent a million lives invading Japan, but they probably didn’t need to invade Japan. Just cut off its oil supplies etc.

Even when the war is over (hopefully), a posting in the Ukraine for a Russian official of any kind, would not be a safe job. The ruskies would struggle to hold it full time.
