As much as this is seen this as China extending it's reach into the Pacific, it's possible that the timing of this is strategically aimed at a government who has a record of neglect to our pacific neighbours by reducing foreign aid and the thumbing of their noses on climate change.

They've been reducing our entire Foreign Affairs budget since coming to office, year on year.

This is a direct consequence of that, less money, less people, less skills, less resources doesn't make for a more effective organisation.

That's much of the reason why it is a direct failure of this government, no matter how they attempt to sugar coat it.

Can I just say, they also load their Foreign Aid now with caveats, by telling them were they can spend it and how.

Lets also not get caught up in how much this government pays in foreign aid ($1.7B), as they burned how much on off shore detention centres and french subs ? $1.7B is nothing.

I'm centre left, do none of those things, and I 100% guarantee you I work longer hours than most every merkin you know.

Oh, and please don't vote for Fatty Mcf**k Face, he's a f**king grifter promising the world but would deliver f**k all that didn't pay out for him personally. Vote for any other merkin,

If you value hard work, try this on for size when Fatty was actually in parliament.

.........and of course when he did show up......

.......I guess we all need a nap on occasion.
Everything Clive has touched he has royally f**ked. I can't think of a single thing that he has done that could be classed as impressive other than not die.

So Smuggo and his foreign minister look to have really f**ked up on our Solomon Islands neighbours then... treated them like shit and took them for granted. And so now it's come on down China!

Smuggo and the LNP are a bunch of amateurs, let's f**k them off on 21 May.

And the Scumster even lost the debate tonight on his home ground - Sky News, with a panel of 100 "undecided" voters... If Scotty from Marketing can't even convince the majority of them to say they'll vote for him, then he wont convince enough "swinging voters" to hold on to government at the election.

Ch9 are trying hard to sway the fence sitters to the incumbents.

Well to be fair that's kinda how I feel. I think a big problem is that it has turned into a presidential style 2 horse race. I actually think the Lib candidate I my seat (Gilmore) is by far the best option but do I not vote for him on the basis that Scomo is the leader of the party? I don't know. The labour incumbent seems mildly competent.

Morgan has just joined the Fox stable and I guess that got him access to Trump.

Former President Donald Trump recently sat down for an interview with one-time supporter Piers Morgan -- but things quickly went downhill after Morgan told him that he legitimately lost the 2020 presidential election.

The New York Post reports that Morgan told Trump during the interview, which is scheduled to air next week, that the 2020 election was "a free and fair election" that "you lost."

“Only a fool would think that,” Trump angrily replied.

“You think I’m a fool?” Morgan asked.

“I do now, yeah,” Trump said.

Morgan then informed Trump that he still hadn't produced "hard evidence" of voter fraud.

"I don't think you're real!" Trump fumed, and then called Morgan "very dishonest."

Morgan also said he blamed Trump's refusal to concede the election for the January 6th riots at the United States Capitol building.

"Then you’re a fool!" Trump told him. "And you haven’t studied!"

Trump then walked away while telling the crew to turn off the cameras and stop filming.

The full interview is set to air on Monday, April 25.

I'm certainly leaning towards ScoMo. He is tried and tested and can stand on his own two feet.
Albo comes across as a puppet for the powerbrokers.
ScoMo also sticks up for our sovereignty so I respect that.

I’m not what could have been done to save the Solomons but a vassal state on our doorstep probably threatens our sovereignty.

If the Chinese manage it well, and it starts to prosper, other countries in the region might get similar ideas or at least use it to start demanding more resources from us and our allies.

As the resources roll in, the Sollies can start living in decent houses, get proper health care, good schools and open businesses.

Maybe a kinder welfare system, housing for the aged and all of that.

They won’t want to go back to pre-Chinese days of poverty, turmoil and failed statism.

The budget will now have to accommodate a Solomon Islands Defence expenditure, and they might have to re-introduce the full excise on petrol earlier.

Not blaming Scomo, but we really should have seen this coming. Catastrophic failure of our intelligence agencies. Do they need more resources? I don’t know.

It might have been better to pump more resources into the Sollies so we had a say.

All bets are off now.
