I can get onboard with hunting deer for food, or feral animals etc. But Giraffes, Lions, Elephants, Rhinos etc is just awful.
Trump overturned an Obama law that said you can't kill a hibernating bear.

Merkins kill them whilst they are asleep.

Are other people around the world horrified that we kill kangaroos?

I think its awful ... giraffes are amazing when you see em at western plains zoo ... i dont understand the desire to kill one. But theres lots of things i dont understand that go through other peoples heads.

Ive personally never shot a gun, and im a city slicker, so i appreciate my sheltered life means i dont know what goes on out there.

Well you can't just pop them, because they are a protected species. It then comes down to the controversial cull thing where a population encroaches upon farmland. Licences and quotas etc. So yes we kill skippy, but there's a lot of forms before you can and they expect you to exhaust other non lethal alternatives I think.

So not exactly like killing a bear whilst hibernating or paying $50k to kill a giraffe, cut her heart out and instagram it.

It's not just weird, it is bizarre, and sick and offensive and cruel and basically, beyond comprehension.

Yet, these people are running for a job in our parliament and want to represent the population.
Why don't the media call out these f**king sickos?

Unsure how true this is but I met this guy once up in Darwin. He reckons when any stray boats used to come in back in the 80s they used to mow them down up in the NT. Target practise.
As much as I assumed he was taking the piss he sounded genuine.

I am 100% certain that plenty of people that shoot Kangaroos wouldn't bother with any forms and just knock em off when they go hunting.

Good luck to the spotlighters. This merkin was charged for killing skippy with a ute. Still a protected species, so the result is the same.

Roos are in plague proportions in some areas, farmers are having their crops eaten, they don't worry about paperwork.

There is some natural selection, fires and floods etc but it's not enough. It used to be bushland but now its crops that will sustain a large population of roos and they have to eat.

Pretty sure @the phantom menace put them up to it.
Their how to vote (guidance handouts only - merkins only have to put a number 1 for their vote to count) for my electorate show 1 Labor, 2 Animal Justice, 3 Greens, 4 Public Education parties - and ditto for Granville electroate I believe.

I think the only candidates they left off in my area are the Informed Medical Opinions party (anti-vaxxers?) and the unknown last minute LNP candidate (who hasn't even bothered put out a flyer or a local paper ad etc).

Wow. Labor has decided to preference 15 seats to the SFF Party.
Lets kill more giraffes! Yay!

So that's in two electorates (Upper Hunter and Dubbo) held by the Nationals.

The Upper House "how to vote cards" in 15 electorates are not "directing preferences" technically - they are advisory only, if people choose to follow them and be bothered to number more than a "1" for Labor above the line.

A number above the line means your votes are distributed to that whole group of candidates in the order they are listed below that square, starting from the top. So a person chooses whether their preferences are distributed beyond one party, and in what order they personally choose to number any other parties. Noting that there are only vacancies and Labor candidates listed anyway....

It would be more accurate to say that Labor is suggesting to people (in only 15 seats) that for the upper house they number the SFF candidates somewhere before they number the One Nation candidates - this is typically done in return for a return deal on the order in which they appear on the lower house how to vote papers handed out of the day by the other party (in this case SFF) in that area.

Of course the LNP are screaming about it, because they like to direct preferences/suggest people vote for One Nation quite high on their how to vote orders in all areas!

EDIT: added link as to how it all works - https://elections.nsw.gov.au/electi...les/how-to-cast-your-vote-in-a-state-election
