That’s when I see Waqa Blake in the lineup on team list Tuesday. Thankfully that will be no more.

Indigenous Australians are heard ? Says who ? White people ? The people who campaign for NO ?

First Nations people are twice as likely to die by suicide than us. Their mortality age is significantly below us. The mortality rate of children under age 5 compared to us is mind blowing.

Their education and employment prospects are significantly poorer.

Many would say that they are being ignored.

It may not be death by hand, but if we don't do something about closing the gap and mending their mental health, then you might as well say it is by hand.

If the Serbs in Kosovo had such poor outcomes in life, you would be yelling from the rooftops.

We didn't need a referendum to give first nation people mental health support.

And still their numbers keep growing. Damn!

Whoah. ‘Us’ ain’t the same people. I belong to a demographic with a very high suicide rate, and I don’t need to be lumped in with the rest of you non-indigenous merkins and losing my sympathy card.

Well as you know, I’m in favor of giving you vets and people who are actually giving back, extra counts in voting.

No one else is backing me unfortunately.

I would have rather the government have spent that money on studies how we can better the first nations people...

Firstly by getting the word out their what the issue is. Dig deep not they need better education.
Why don't they have that now what could be done to get better education for first nations people.
in 2017 a bunch of people got together to find ways to better the first nations people
They thought a Voice to Parliament enshrined in the constitution was a good way - but that needed to pass a referendum that the majority voted "no" to

Yeah that doesn't answer anything I wrote

It talks about Australians losing their property while in the same paragraph being unable to resist making a comment about the threat to white Australians. You’re the one crying about wedge politics here. It wasn’t just white Australians who rejected the Voice. It was most of us, united.

Yes, but opinion pieces by random journos don't define voters on any side. What's you're point exactly ?

Australian have voted and the majority have had their say.

"United" is a stretch, because there are many many many electorates that were decided by 10-15%. So let's just leave it as the majority of the people in the majority of the states. All good. The people have spoken.

If only the Indigenous had someone as influential who could use her swing vote in the senate to force change. To speak so passionately that people actually listen. Sadly many think she's a nutcase, but she wears her heart on her sleeve and is single minded.

There are a lot of people who fall between the cracks. We are a prosperous country. Veterans, the elderly, the disabled, the mentally ill, our refugee intake and indigenous folk can all be looked after and we have the capacity to do so.

Unfortunately some are easier to resolve than others. The NDIS was established with bipartisan support. The fallout from the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety will bring similar bipartisan outcomes I'm sure.

Why this wasn't bipartisan, is a question for the history books.
