I’m not convinced that they are managing their border well. I get that immigrants call fill a skill gap, but when you have no handle on who comes in and where they have gone then you have lost control.^^^^ meanwhile at the US border. As much as some will say that millions are flooding into the US every day, facts are that the people who are actually willing to work in hospitality, cleaning and other blue collar jobs - are now hard to find.
So much so that Florida (good old book burning Florida) are winding back child slavery laws.

There seems to be a lot of gibber going on in an election year. We know that figures are being inflated left right and centre plus efforts to strengthen the border are actually being blocked by the GOP in the senate to give them political purchase.I’m not convinced that they are managing their border well. The Roe V Wade abortion thing in the US took a f**ked up turn this week, when an Alabama Supreme Court ruled that an IVF embryo was a human.
So the story goes that, in the most litigious country in the world, some merkin deliberately or accidentally destroyed some frozen embryos in an IVF clinic.
“The judges' decision came in response to a unique case in which a person wandered into an unlocked storage area at a fertility clinic in Mobile, Alabama, and dropped several frozen embryos on the floor.
The court determined on Feb. 16 that the clinic's failure to secure that storage area violated the state’s Wrongful Death Act — which says an unjustified or negligent act that leads to someone’s death is a civil offense — because the frozen embryos were considered human beings.
Meghan Cole, a patient at Alabama Fertility, has a rare blood disorder that prevents her from safely carrying children, so she had been planning to start a family through IVF and surrogacy. The surrogate set to carry Cole's baby was supposed to receive an embryo implantation on Friday.”
The Supreme Court then held that there was a case of wrongful death because an embryo is a baby. What does this mean for IVF moving forward ?
The practice of IVF involves combining sperm and eggs in a lab to create embryos, then implanting one or more of those embryos in a person’s uterus. Extra embryos are often frozen and stored; however, embryos are also frequently discarded if they have genetic abnormalities or if patients do not need to use them.
Because of the Alabama Supreme Court ruling, IVF providers now fear they or their patients could face legal penalties if they discard any embryos.
So with this precedent, they are expecting that pro-life activists to take similar actions in other states to cease IVF practices across the country.

This follows a case late last year where a young lady miscarried and was charged with abuse of a corpse. This is because Ohio is among several states that enacted laws mandating that products of pregnancy be buried or cremated, because they are humans, no matter the “age”.
I am not going to tread on their religious freedom toes, however, I smell hypocrisy when the same people fight as pro-lifers based on religious teachings in support of babies / children, yet turn a deaf ear to the same kids being killed in school shootings.then there is Trump
what a f**ked up country
I think this creates a potentially very odd chain of events. By making an embryo a legal person and disallowing disposal of abnormal embryos, either there is enforced impregnation with abnormalities or leads down the path of eugenics and medically interfering prebirth to correct abnormalities. Or the continued maintenance of frozen embryos forever? The Roe V Wade abortion thing in the US took a f**ked up turn this week, when an Alabama Supreme Court ruled that an IVF embryo was a human.

Were you stuck inside of mobile with the Memphis blues again?FFS Alabama the hillbilly state.
Surely there is no one else on this forum that has had the pleasure to step foot in Alabama before.
Had to stop in for lunch in Mobile, Alabama as we were travelling from New Orleans to Orlando via a 1 night stay in Panama City Beach.
How about we flip that? Why are people who are so anti gun so willing to ignore babies being killed?I am not going to tread on their religious freedom toes, however, I smell hypocrisy when the same people fight as pro-lifers based on religious teachings in support of babies / children, yet turn a deaf ear to the same kids being killed in school shootings.

What is an embryo? What is a foetus? What is a baby ?How about we flip that? Why are people who are so anti gun so willing to ignore babies being killed?
Nailed it. I saw an article yesterday with a family in Alabama who had 3 kids from IVF and had some embryos cryogenicically remaining in the bank. They were WTF is it murder that they are destroyed for eternity?I think this creates a potentially very odd chain of events. It’s not as black and white as you put it. Or as some pro-lifers have attempted to put their line in the sand of a woman’s reproductive rights.Life is life.
