Are you telling me that those elections were won on bringing back conservative values ? See, I am constantly seeing the gloat attributing the Trump and QLD wins to a change of the guard, a swing to old fashioned principles. It’s fantasy.

It's not a swing toward old fashioned principles, it's a swing away from modern, progressive principles, which are a privilege for people without bigger problems to worry about. That's why they are more popular where merkins are wealthier. Enforcing these principles requires resources that poorer communities can't afford.

Yes, I think a lot of the working class felt patronised by the elite Democrats.

As did the Australian population with the voice campaign ….which I voted for.

Your beloved conservative immigrants, they probably all voted trumpy.

Your answer didn’t really stay on topic. If we circle back, you were peacocking over the recent change in governments and the loss of numbers in the ACT. I said it was all about the cost of living. Then you lost fofocus.

If it was all about the cost of living then the Liberal Party in the ACT should've still increased their vote, rather than decreasing it.

@Chipmunk beat you to the punch.

I still think the public service is powerful.

It could bring the government of Australia to its knees if it really wanted to.

Happy to argue that one out.

Rivers of blood if they cut the dole and social security, which working in the private sector, Im ok paying my tax for.

As good centrists do.
How could the public service bring the government to its knees exactly?

I don't understand your rivers of blood comment.

You’re equating growing up in a housing commission with childhood trauma?

I mean, sure there’s plenty of kids who do, but so would there be rich kids who have trauma from their upbringings.
Sure, but I guess it's about the numbers.
I grew up in Campbelltown and know many people who were housos when they were kids. Every single one of them has gone on to be successful in their own way, and none are housos anymore.

To think a PM can’t be someone who grew up poor is some elitist bullshit. Having someone in charge who can understand the plight of those worse off than others isn’t a bad thing.
I've lived in Housing Commission (my mum is still a houso) but my little sister spent the formative part of her childhood there, and she found it traumatic. She is now very successful, with a $4M house and hoping her eldest boy gets a CSP at med school so she doesn't have to pay a private college. But she is also a fairly ruthless hardarse. She definitely "understands the plight of those worse off than others". She thinks they are all deadshits with no self discipline. I think she'd be a great PM but she'd have the likes of Gronk protesting in the streets.

If the public service aren’t collecting or administering payments to folks on welfare etc, do you hundreds of thousands of people are going to cop it?
The public servants involved in the administration of 'welfare' payments just do whatever the government of the day informs them to do.

I'm not really sure what you're actually trying to say with this.

Just refuse to follow instructions.

If enough of them went out, it would be complete chaos.

Or a targeted campaign.
The Federal public service is made of three types of people.

80% who couldn't give a f**k who the government of the day is, they just want a job and get paid every fortnight, and do whatever the "management" want them to do.

10%, who make up the "management", literally do whatever the government of the day tells them they have to do, so they can keep their high paying jobs.

And

10%, who are young and enthusiastic, and hope to one day join the 10% above.

That's it...nothing more...it's not some secret society pulling all the strings.

Nothing in your response supports the proposition that they could not bring it down if they wanted to.

“Secret society” was something you ran up the flagpole Sir.

The conservative immigrants were far more likely to vote No in our recent referendum.

It’s funny how every time we ‘non progressive’ types try and get our point across we are attacked with the ‘you are just dumb’ ’you don’t understand’ The fact is we f**king do and WE don’t give a f**k what you try and shove down our throats and WE are in the majority. It’s a democracy, remember??
Hmm...

I think it's ridiculously fanciful to think they could bring down the government of the day. They'd all rather just get paid to be told what to do.

You're misinterpreting the role of the public service...all it does is the administrative tasks for the government of the day. Running the government of the day takes a lot of bullshit bureaucratic processes. The Australina Public Service is only there to undertake the bullshit administrative process work on behalf of the government of the day.

In reality, 75% of that 80% cohort could be sacked tomorrow and no on would notice any difference.

You haven’t read my claims properly or you wouldn’t be dying on this straw person or spurious mountain.
