I'm still processing that 77million people turned up of their own free will - no compulsory voting or fines etc - to vote in Trump, after having already had a taste of him before.

Sure 75million voted for Harris too... but I would have thought that faced with two candidates perhaps best described as "poor" quality - since it's evident the democrats really botched up their succession planning - less people would have been bothered to turn up and voluntarily for either?

I guess the divisive nature of Trump worked both ways - galvanising people of "his persuasion" to come out and support him, while also galvanising people to come out against him and give their votes to Harris anyway.

And what's with all the $Trump crypto meme fast money fundraising thing...? I blinked and I missed the rise and fall, but someone seems to have pocketed some decent/quick profit when they sold at the top.

Well let's wait and see what actually happens. But having family or not shouldn't be a factor on staying/going.
A murderer if caught 20yrs later still will go to GAOL and his family isn't considered. These people sneaking across border are criminals. Roll the dice and pay the price.

I think me personally would say anyone in the last 5yrs would be sent home. The rest just get a fine
Quite often, if not always, the most vocal of those opposed to having illegal aliens returned to their origins because it makes them feel sad, are so far removed from the social consequences and realities of the situation it is barley worth acknowledging their stance. I would rather they stood up and said "YIMBY" and fostered the accommodation of said visa dodgers in their own backyards and neighbourhoods and see how that all goes for them....

Are they?
Maybe they are just looking for a better life, just like the majority of "boat people" who come to Australia, who are trying to escape the Taliban or the shit in Gaza?

It's very unfortunate and sad these countries are at war. That's why we let in refugees via the correct channels. If you aren't tough then you will just get bucket loads of boats coming in illegally and that's going to create a problem. And one that isn't ours to begin with.
Our system is set up so we can let in x amount of refugees to help the best we can. I'm happy to increase that amount whatever it may be but it must be above board and manageable also.

Imagine 1,000 people from the sub continent deciding to reside in Mossman. Imagine the locals outrage.
I doubt they feel sorry for them either. They are all well educated people and they know immigration fuels the economy and it is what makes their assets worth so much while us plebs slog it away week after week.

If you are still processing it, then you don't get it at all.

The Dems were utterly deplorable over the last 4 years. Did nothing, offered nothing. A very easy decision for people to vote them out.
