How about just take the lid off and drink out of the cup ?

If you don’t get or care how single use plastics are f**king the world, then I’d like to know more.

I don’t understand why the conservative solution is just wind back the clock. We have all learnt to cope with shopping bags.

Straws are for kids really.

In general I agree. I have a few cute carry bags for shopping. Mostly covered in cats. These days bags are accessories

As far as plastic goes it's amazing how many tiny electrical components are wrapped and packed and wrapped and packaged again in plastic.

You know that Rightards don't do well with logical solutions. Everything has to be convoluted so they have plenty to whinge and whine about.

We see an account of “lived experience” reasoning unashamedly deployed here.

His straws collapse, so everyone else’s does and so such a policy should be popular.

We see politicians deploy the argument every now and again and I think it’s gratuitous.

I think his overall reasoning behind it is to send a message that he will make policy on the run. To add further uncertainty and “make a splash”

To be consistent being inconsistent and in line with his strategy to dominate headlines and get people talking about him. He just doesn’t let up.

As for its merits, I can’t see any and I agree with Twizzle that it’s probably not at the top of “fix America” check list.

Because of its unnecessary adverse impact on the environment, especially the marine environment and our beloved seas creatures, I am wholly opposed to it.

And by the by, I met a former ALP staffer last night - old family friend-and she was fairly adament Minns and Co booted our ex transport minister off the team.

She said that it’s not uncommon to lose a minister or two during a term.

She has a sneaking professional admiration for Chris Bowen as a political survivor and he is very powerful and well liked in the party.

Her views on the transport ministers poor judgment reflected our views here on LU and that her career is over.

How about “I’m allocating $100m to find an alternative to those paper straws that don’t work. Let’s find a biodegradable alternative that actually works”.

You don't even have solar panels you hypocrite. Oh oh I don't get enough sun.
Bullshit. They look ugly like the public toilet in Paddington. Solar panels look fine in those houses out west tho.

I wouldn't put them on my inner west PAD either. Atleast I'll admit it isn't due to sun. They look like dogshit
